Be better than stoops but I don't think it's him. That's not big enough of a hire to fire your coach in the middle of the year.
But you didn't just fire ANY coach in the middle of the year, you fired Orgeron.
You're saying that Brian Kelly isn't a much better coach than Orgeron. Let that sink in.
Otherwise what was the point of your post? You're saying Kelly and Orgeron are comparable, or at the very least that Kelly isn't drastically better than Orgeron enough to be worth firing O mid-season. Right?
You're either crazy, parroting bullshite you've heard around here, or don't know much about college football outside the SEC.

If this is Woodward's number one then that is downright sad. Where is the $12 million push for Rhule or Fickell? We need a program builder not someone who can take the reigns for 4-5 years before going to a home.
How are Rhule or Fickell's resumes more accomplished than Kelly's? They aren't. People will literally shite on anything around here.
Kelly built Cincy, Fickel stepped in behind.
Kelly has proved his coaching ability at Cincy and ND. Christ.

Why are LSU fans still hung on Riley? He just missed out on a gold mine in 6 years when the SEC runs college athletics. He showed how much of a pussy he really was.

If you can recruit and field competitive teams at Notre Dame where academics are far more stringent and geography sucks, I would like to think you could do just fine at LSU.
The three years before Brian Kelly their classes were ranked 5, 6, 2. Maybe the landscape has changed since then but ND is a program a lot of guys want to play for

What does that even mean? Was Ed a cultural fit?

How long sense his last Natty? This is why I’m not sure your post makes since. Everyone has known cents the beginning that the Whale has won at least 1 Natty.

Builds teams in the trenches? Lol

Instead, Kelly said Notre Dame just needed to coach a little better and play a little harder after it went 10-3 in 2015, losing three of four games against ranked opponents (it's only ranked win was over Navy).

I'm not. But I'm not so dishonest or disingenuous that I'll delude myself into believing that LSU never took a run at him and that it was all a part of some brilliant counterintelligence scheme. I just hate stupidity and the gullible people who purvey it. Woodward took his shot, Riley went elsewhere, now Woodward needs to try to recover and still hire a good coach. That's what he is paid to do. If he can't, he failed. If he can, he succeeded. Simple.

This guy would have us playing bully ball from day 1. I'd be good with it

He certainly doesn't fit the character personality types of the previous two coaches. He comes across to me as a no-nonsense kind of guy (Bill Belichick-ish) that doesn't mind getting in your face. I'm not remotely a fan of Notre Dame and have consistently thought they were overrated, which was proven to be correct consistently after the regular season. But I don't think he's a bad coach. Just don't know how he'd fit in in Baton Rouge.

It is not Kelly. The hire is so obvious none of you can see it.

That’s one tough looking sumofabitch… I’m sold!

Wouldn’t you say making out with a (multiple) national championship appearing head coach over a guy that got scared and moved to cali succeeding?
Kelly is 54-9 in his last 5 seasons. Anyone saying this would be a bad hire is kidding themselves

Oh, I agree Kelly is a good coach. No quarrel there. A bastard, but a good football mind. My dispute is solely with those who continue to childishly believe that we never tried to retain Riley and it was all a misdirection or the work of evil foreign agents. It makes me cringe.

Was Nick Saban a cultural fit? Was Bill Arnsparger?
As well as goofy midwesterner Les Miles. LSU just fired perhaps the best "cultural fit" any school could ever have because he went .500 over the last two seasons.
In the last 40 years or so who was the best "cultural fit" besides Ed Orgeron? The answer was an Alabama native named Curley Hallman who had great success at a school just a few hours from BR. How did that work out?
Johnny Jones was a Louisiana native and LSU alum. Do you guys want him back?
People revolted at the thought of hiring a LSU playing and coaching alum (Mike Bianco) who had pretty good success at a fellow SEC school and happily cheered when a California native who had never coached outside the mountain time zone was named LSU's new baseball coach.
Hell, LSU's best coach ever (in terms of championship success) was a Jewish guy who came from south Florida (Skip Bertman).
Now, the only guy not named Saban, Dabo, Riley, or Day who has made multiple trips to the CFP is no good because he's not a "cultural fit"? If cultural fit is most important then go drag Ed's arse out of the beach house in 30A.

Welcome to coaching changes
I think they do it so they feel better about him choosing SC but the truth is he did yall a damn favor. Lincoln is a gigantic pussy who will let the players walk all over him.
