He can be annoying to fans at times with how he handles coaching decisions, but he is super professional and does not cave in to external pressure. He waited until after signing day and the bowl game, then quickly got rid of basically the entire defensive coaching staff. And he very likely has candidates already picked out.

I would assume the new staff would be named very quickly to keep up with the end of season recruiting

I’m sure the recruits know who is coming. You don’t get McKinley without them telling him something.

Certainly come a far way from not even interviewing Bo Pelini.

I bet it's an NFL guy.

Don't be surprised if he hires Erin henderson.

Yes, BK is very measured. It's been a huge part of his success throughout the years.

Where are all the dumbasses who banged the “get ready for Matt House 2024” drums?

House was a flop but overall I don’t see how you don’t trust that the guy really, really wants to win and knows how to do it. Say what you want about our defense, in his 2nd year he had the best offense in college football and still went 9-3 with a catastrophically terrible defense. Napier and Freeze would’ve maybe won 2 games this year.

That’s how grown men and good executives handle business decisions. They don’t react quickly like children do. Yes this board is a bunch of children. BK isn’t one of them.

He listens to his players too. Vibe checks. Good coaches do that.

I agree with OP. I was thinking about this all month as to why he was so tight lipped. He didn't want distractions during bowl practice. He did his interviews with players and coaches, and performance reviews of the staff.

He keeps it professional and out of the press and starts to reach out to a select few for the DC job. I commend this approach and it is very much like Woodward has operated with his coaching hires. Rumor mill is quiet, nothing but speculation, it keeps the press, boosters, and TAF from confusing the process and interfering.

It keeps the hiring process from being a chaotic, rumor mill like we have seen at places like Texas, Tenn, etc.

I like the way this is happening.

Getting all 28 commits to sign during the early period was extremely impressive. It takes all of the uncertainty out of recruiting while trying to hire new staff. We just need to get McKinley signed and any new commits between now and the final signing day.

Kelly should get all the credit for the spectacular offense and all the blame for the shameful defense.

Also, Kelly can ill afford another 2-year whiff on his defensive staff. His clock is ticking.

Exactly. This is why I always laugh at the emotional tards who kept skyscreaming about how "BRIAN KELLY GOTTA MAKE A DECISION NOW!" leading up to the bowl game.

He's a highly experienced, competent coach who has developed his own highly successful way of doing business. Fans just need to shut the frick up and let him cook
