No unbiased fan would rank SC above TENN as a more desirable job.

At South Carolina:

-Boom made over $4 million this year
-Tons of fan support and resources
-8 wins gets you a statue

At Tennessee:

-Pruitt made $3.8 million this year
-Tons of fan support and resources
-8 wins gets you death threats and a hot seat

There is less pressure at South Carolina than Tennessee. It may not be a "better" job, but I don't see how Tennessee is desirable given their fan expectations. I mean look at their last coaching search.

Tennessee has gone through the hotshot up and comer (Kiffin), the son of a legend (Dooley), the solid fundamentals guy (Butch) and the Legend’s protege (Pruitt) and all they have to show for it is the second most conference losses by an SEC East program in that timeframe.

There is no scenario or logic behind the idea that they are better program than us right now nor are they a better job.

Napier probably waiting for a BIG job. Honestly I think he wants Bama. Saban can’t coach forever. He’s been there before as an assistant coach and recruits the region well. He’d be a damn good candidate along with Sark. He might be willing to wait it out at UL for 2-3 more years.

I remember when Tommy Bowden was staying at Tulane from the Clemson private jets steps in South Carolina.

That would be quite the risk. First, you don't know how long Saban has left. Second, he has to keep up this pace at ULL to even be considered a legit option for them.

I think he will watch the Texas and Michigan situations. Not saying he will get either of those jobs, but he can see where the dominos fall, and something more appealing than SC may open up from it.

Bama would never hire Saban's replacement from the Sun Belt. That job starts with an elite coach in an elite conference.

I would say Tennessee is a better job than South Carolina just based on the last two coaches they’ve hired. Butch Jones and Schiano/Pruitt were more desirable head coaching candidates at the time that they were hired than Muschamp and Beamer. There were other Power 5 schools interested in hiring the first group of men to be their head coaches. Muschamp and Beamer weren’t on anybody’s radar as head coaches except South Carolina’s.

I like Coach Napier and would be thrilled to have him one more season (hopefully a non-asterisk season). Especially looking at next year’s schedule.

But I find it tough to believe he would have turned down this job. Everything I’ve heard made it seem he wanted the SC job. He’s from the area and believes he could be successful there.

I’ll take it, though. Maybe we can go into Austin next year and pull an upset.

Pretty obvious by the fact that Shane Beamers hiring was announced like 5 minutes after Napier put out this statement that Napier wasn't offered the job. SC passed on Napier. Napier doing what he has to do to turn it into a win for ULL.

Btw, I think it was the wrong decision by SC.

Why the hell would he want the South Carolina job anyway? It’s a deadend! The ONLY person who’s had a blip of success there was Spurrier.
I think the jury’s still out on Nape anyway. Why should he get a big SEC job with his current body of work? He’s re-building a good program but what else?

University of Louisiana? Isn't this ULL? Why are they ashamed of the hyphen?

There's hyperbole and then there's this statement. It's not even the worst job in the SEC East.
