Well - that means LSU is really in trouble because Alleva was the jackass that had over a year to replace Miles and we ended up with Orgeron.
No wonder great coaches do not want to run the LSU football program.

The athletic director also shouldn't have any say so in the head coaches search for his coaching staff outside of "yes we can or no we can't hire this guy."

Why shouldn't the AD have any say in someone he's expected to pay? You're high if you don't think there should be any oversight whatsoever. He should be involved so much as negotiating contract demands and from a PR perspective. Sounds like you're still salty Alleva didnt want anything to do with Briles' baggage

Have to agree. O and Alleva's fortunes are tied together. If one is out the other will follow.

You don't think the Aranda deal changes that? If the next coach is already on staff, locked in long-term by Alleva, and supposedly Alleva does a lot of the financial aspects really well, won't it be easy for the higher ups to keep him around?

An AD should never hire a HC that he doesn't trust to hire his own staff.

Obviously.

What a clown show.

Same question I'm asking myself.

Joe doesn't trust O.
O didn't trust Matt.

The BSE is always involved in a hire, either directly or indirectly

Chris Landry is very salty at LSU for whatever reason. I listened to a few of his podcast and anyone outside of Emmert and Saban is useless and a waste of time. They are gone and not coming back, get over it. I agree current AD should have never been hired, but I have no say so in it.

Given that O hired Canada and quickly dispatched him at a cost of $1.7 million, guessing that this next hire will be more heavily scrutinized before it is approved.

Hell we don’t know maybe the man learned his lesson hiring O and then letting O make the hire in Canada and then getting rid of him a year later then paying out the money. You might be on to something chicken Lol.

He's right. His source is spot on. Alleva stopped the Briles hire and has led this search most of the way.

O consulted with Kiff for Briles and O decided to beat Houston to the punch. Alleva stopped it.

This is great news! I don't trust him, either. He'll piss away half the damn farm, if you let him. Idiot.

For what it's worth, the rumor on 910 am Baton Rouge, yesterday, was after Canada was done, Aleva would go to Boca and offer Kiffin Aranda's 2.5m/4 yr.

Weee!

Try not to be so dense this time through.

It's the head coaches job to assemble his coaching staff. The head coach evaluates his football skill and potential fit with the other staff as well as the players. Alleva shouldn't have anything to do with the head coach's staff selection.

Once the coach has his guy, THEN it gets turned over to Alleva and the administrative staff to vet the hire for any red flags, negotiate a contract and then give it the red or green light. Before it gets to that point, the head coach should have the autonomy to search for, interview and assemble his staff as he sees fit. It's troubling that LSU'S head football coach doesn't have that trust.

Honestly I trust him this time, and that was very hard for me to type that but, his job is on the line with this hire.

Let’s not forget it was JA who hired Will Wade

BOS made/encouraged him to hire a independent coaching search firm who contacted Wade on our behalf. After all he did hire Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones.

While some of this post has some validity the accuracy is not quite there.

The BOS was Consulted about hiring some folks that might impune the reputation of the University. It was A collaborative discussion between the HC the AD and some of the BOS. Everyone agreed it was not the course to go at this time.

The Coach along with the normal involvement of an AD in somethingvof this importance will then determine the OC. The BOS is not actively recruiting nor determining who the HC will select.

So we’ll probably end up paying Steve E $1.5M for 10 years all guaranteed.

And nothing my post said anything to the contrary nor is there any evidence that anything else has happened. Our fans just want that to be the case to reaffirm whatever preconceived notions they already had about Orgeron and Alleva. There is a very large and vocal contingent of the fan base that will never be satisfied and aren't ever happy unless they can complain
