How do we know Scotty didn't already know Riley to USC was happening?
Him leaking "Deal is done" to see where the holes are at would be brilliant.
A deal was done, just not with us and we never offered as far as I know. Our KNOWN GOOD insiders all were very quiet. Their info didn't match TBL etc.
The longer we go without a hire, the better imo. I think we may have Fickell with Lane as a backup. Both were early and dismissed immediately. The off season smoke providing the perfect cover...

because all of this hurts the LSU image, it makes it seem(whether true or not) that we can't get the guy we want.
This will make recruits think twice.
If we really didn't offer Riley, they should have put it out there to stop the rumors.

Have you ever heard a school announce they weren’t hiring somebody? And who’s to say they didn’t try to get it out there. Plenty were saying it’s not Reilly.
