Just got some numbers from Sanderson's kickstarter:

*Approximately 192,000 backers

*Approximately $45.5 million raised (so ~$237 per backer)

*They will be shipping just under 100,000 premium hardcover book boxes each applicable month

*They will be shipping just under 42,000 swag boxes each applicable month

Even if Sanderson takes in only 10% of that as profit (no idea the costs of self-publishing like this), he made a handsome profit.

I blind backed this kickstarter and bought Mistborn on the same day.

All I can say is wow. The first trilogy was fantastic. I blew through the entire thing in under a month. Couldn't put it down. Quickly became one of my favorite trilogies. I plan to reread it before January.

I'm halfway through Shadow's of Self right now.

I cannot put these books down. I love them. This man is a hell of an author and his entire world is engrossing.

Cant wait to finish the Wax/Wayne trilogy and start this new onw.

Became a big Sanderson fan last year and read everything Cosmere related within the year. It’s all great, do Warbreaker and elantris as well before starting stormlight if you can hold off.

I agree. Of course, these are also his only books I’ve read so far. Really wish he’d focus on finishing Stormlight Archives.

Guess I’ll start mistborn next.

Just finished Mistborn Book 5 last night. Holy shite. Reading these books is the first time in a long time I find myself making audible comments as I’m reading. They’re engrossing and fantastic. When I finish 6 I’ll start a spoiler thread to discuss the two trilogies if anyone is interested. And then we can roll that into discussion when the new book drops in January.

Waiting for it to come out and do a re “read” on audible and go through all 7

Plan to do the same with the red rising book 6 next year.

I’ve given up on rothfuss and the fat man.

I put off Book 5+6, because they weren't available at local library. Both copies finally showed up in Libby app, so I've been going through Book 5. Definitely a fan, and I kinda regret waiting for the library copy to be available.

Confirmed that Sanderson is a robot. Doesn't break a sweat doing the hot ones challenge. I don't think he even took a drink of anything the whole time.

Btw, his and Dan's weekly podcast is pretty entertaining if you've never watched it before.

Brandon announced that he is bringing on Dan Wells to help, manage, expand and write/co-write Cosmere novels.

Looks like he wants to really expand the Cosmere and make it a large universe within fantasy.

The Mistborn trilogy I think is my favorite trilogy I’ve ever read. I did not expect anything to take that title from Lord of the Rings.

I’m almost finished with Bands of Mourning and if he sticks the landing a second time I think it may legitimately blow my mind. Sanderson is an absolutely gifted amazing writer and I’m so glad I found these books. I blind backed his kickstarter before opening Mistborn book 1 and I have been engrossed in these books since. Can’t wait to finish the Wax/Wayne trilogy and get started on Stormlight.

And to say I’m excited about my third trilogy novel 1 showing up in January is an understatement

The final wax and Wayne drops in November just fyi. And might want to read Elantris and Warbreaker before stormlight if you haven’t already.

Well you've got some time to wait. Sanderson has said that it will take to his early 70s to finish the "main" Cosmere books he has planned out. He's 46 so that's another ~25 years...

I'm about the same age as him and hope that both of us stay in good health. So that he is able to finish the books and I'm still around to read them.

He has plenty of other stories/ideas for the Cosmere but knows he'll never be able to get to them. So that's probably the main reason Dan Wells was brought in and help with that.

My biggest worry is that the tv/movie stuff takes off big and will delay the main books more.
