He’s the best guy in fantasy right now imo. He’s not as good of a writer as Martin or Rothfuss or Lynch at pure prose, but he has wonderful magic systems, great worlds and characters, and he cranks out material like crazy. He has Cosmere (his connected universe) and non cosmere. I’d stick to cosmere for now

I’d start with Mistborn era 1, first book The Final Empire. Books 1-3. Then:

Elantris
Warbreaker

Stormlight Archives 1-3

Mistborn Era 2 (1st book Alloy of Law) books 1-3

Mistborn Secret History

Stormlight 4

Mistborn era 2 Book 4 (lost metal)

That’s how I would do it. If that’s too much skip Elantris and Warbreaker and come back to them, and just read Mistborn era 1, Stormlight, and then MB era 2

…yeah.

So I know he’s going to finish up Stormlight Era 1, and it’ll be a few years before he begins Era 2.

I assume we get Elantris 2 and he starts Mistborn era 3 before any Stormlight era 2.

He’s said he’s moving straight to Mistborn era 3 will plug all of those out before doing anything else on his YouTube streams. He wants to do 2 more elantris’ if I remember right. State of the Sanderson should be out this or next week, will give a huge heads up to what next year will look like. Especially how committed he will be to tv/whatever he signed on for.

Yeah I saw where he wants to write the entire Era 3 trilogy at once, and then start the editing process, similar to what he did for Era 1. He's started on Stormlight 5, and I'm sure he will be working on other non-cosmere, Elantris, and TV/Movie stuff at the same time, so even at his rapid writing pace I wouldn't expect any Mistborn for quite awhile.

I just finished Elantris. Sanderson is a once in a lifetime or maybe more than a lifetime talent. What a hell of a book and an amazing read. Hrathen may be my second favorite character in any of these books. I’d love a story centered around him. And Kiin’s days as a pirate.

Now all I have left to read is Stormlight and Lost Metal and I’ll be done with all the novels.

I’m legitimately blown away with how great each book has been. Can’t wait to dive into Stormlight.

I’m consistently amazed at his ability to write characters and scenes and battles and tie everything together.

Have you read any of the novellas in Arcanum Unbouded yet? A couple of them have pretty significant info. Though don't read Edgedancer till after WoR.

I'm about to start Lost Metal myself. From what I understand, you should probably leave that until you are done with Stormlight.

My recommend to people is usually Mistborn. Book is excellent and is very digestible for fantasy fans.

Way of the Kings is a better book imo, but it's a little slower and much longer. Hard to get uninvested people to commit to a 1000+ page book.

I hope you enjoy it! I do wish I could experience Way of Kings again for the first time. It was such an amazing experience.

Words of radiance was equally as good to the way of kings for me. Loved them both

Way of Kings starts off awesome. Sanderson establishes and creates his worlds and their magic so well.

Just finished Mistborn era 1 and started The Alloy of Law. Really liked the first three books. Looking forward to the 2nd era.

It’s taking some adjusting to the western style environment on my part.

Where do you rank Era 2? I just finished Shadows of Self and it was definitely the weakest Mistborn entry I've read.

All the call backs go era 1 in era 2 of Mistborn are great.

Sanderson really does a fantastic job.

Era 2 is better written but Era 1 had a charm that Wax and Wayne lacks imo.
