Chad Johnson Reveals His Pick For College Football’s Greatest Player Ever
© Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
Earlier this week, Cam Newton sat down with former NFL stars Brandon Marshall and Chad Johnson and had a conversation about the best college football player of all time. Newton, of course, went with a former Florida teammate in Percy Harvin, but Johnson and Marshall, went with someone a little more surprising...

Dang, I forgot about Florida State star Peter Warrick. Who's your pick?

Mac Jones just had a better season, which IMO proves that what you are seeing is 80% the way offenses are allowed to run these days.

Mac Jones did not have a better season than Joey B. Are you drunk?

Cam would’ve won a NC regardless of what team he was on. Harvin never got the credit he deserved because of Tebow’s success. Bush was just sick. Hard to argue. Then go back in time to Herchel, Bo, etc. Mathieu should’ve won a heisman. Very special player.

Peter Warrick was crazy good. I still think Burrow was the best I've seen for a single season, though. I get the homer bias angle, but his season was just bonkers. Others in the conversation for me would include Cam Newton's title season and Tommy Frazier at Nebraska back in the day.

From these comments, you'd think colleges started playing football in the nineties.

Reggie Bush was the most electrifying man in college football, but not the best. Don't know how anybody could pick.

Bo Jackson. Hershel Walker, Red Grange, Davey O'Brian, and of course, Billy Cannon. All time is a long time. . . . .

Derrick Thomas is up there. 27 sacks and 39 tackles for loss in a season, 52 career overall sacks, 5 blocked kicks (4 punts, 1 field goal), 7 forced fumbles in a season

The only defender I ever saw, with my own eyes, in the same category as Thomas was Mathieu.

Were you smoking crack while watching? Mathieu doesn't even come close to Thomas. Hell, nobody does and nobody probably ever will. Do you realize how big his sack numbers were? Do you realize that the closest anyone ever really comes to that record is about 20% of it? What you can say about Mathieu is he's probably the best "ball hawk" I've ever seen. For whatever reason, the ball just seems to find it's way to him.

In the classic EA Sports tournament battle in BR between Abraham Booty (with Josh sitting next to him) and my roommate (97ish?,summer before Josh's 1st season), my roommate's Florida St. team led by Warrick defeated A. Booty's Florida St. team led by Warrick in a nail biter.

As for accomplishments, Tebow. Against us, McFadden (think he holds the record for most cumulative rushing yards against us.)
