Matthew Hinton-USA TODAY Sports
Shea Dixon has reported that LSU freshman offensive tackle Lance Heard did not travel with the team to Tampa for the ReliaQuest Bowl vs. Wisconsin.

Heard, a former five-star tackle from Monroe, La., appeared in all 12 games for the Tigers this season and made one start at right tackle when Emery Jones Jr. was out with an injury.

Heard was very adamant when he signed with the Tigers last December that he was coming to play left tackle, a spot already held down by Will Campbell.

Campbell and Jones Jr. have locked down both tackle spots since they arrived as true freshmen in 2022. The logjam might be a potential issue for Heard. Stay tuned.

I'm a tad frustrated that TR broadcast this, but nothing has come forth out of Kelley or LSU. It leads to potential disinformation and speculation (which is very evident from the comments).

So many dumbass comments below are talking crap on a first year guy who did a very good job. This guy is a talented player and we need him. The whole dictating where he will play is immaturity and he will learn to be a good teammate as he grows. I hope that skipping the bowl isn’t a sign that he is leaving.

They get paid early then grow up early. He can kick rocks.

Really wish someone looking out for him can sit him down and explain the work he would be throwing away. Go somewhere else, definitely learning new schemes. Why not fight it out in BR?

What a web we weave - college football is so stupid now. This kid should be made an example - let his arse go and dare anyone else to quit. Quitters are for life and must be culled

I love all the "fans" overreacting here. Could be something simple, could be he is being a brat. Either way we need to just wait and see.

Gotta love the game brah. Gotta love the game.

Yep. I'm not against college athletes getting paid, but this wild west NIL shite immediately made every one of them instant free agents. Building a sturdy program just became that much harder.

If he ain't sick, his agent could be behind this...mo $$$$, mo $$$$, mo $$$$.

Good grief! That pic of him against the Auburn player just shows what a massive talent he is. Dude is huge. I hope its an illness and not NIL. If it is pay him and get on with it. He will be an All American for LSU. GEAUX TIGERS!

Well I for one don't want him to go elsewhere, so, maybe he is just battling the flu, and get well soon. If not, get your priorities in order and stay and work or take it to the highest bidder.

Mike Scarburough and Buddy alluded to it being a holdout for more NIL money.

I read he just has the flu and didn’t want to get his teammates sick.

Multiple media reports are suggesting he is looking for more $$ or he will transfer.

Screw these entitled assholes. Stop supporting their crap and enforce the same academic standards on these spoiled brats that you enforce on real students. None of these players represent their school, only themselves.

If you enforce the “same academic standards” on the football players, LSU would not be able to field a competitive team. They are not “real students.” They didn’t come to LSU play school. The vast majority of LSU football and basketball players couldn’t care less about “representing their school.” They are at LSU to try to maximize their financial futures through their athletic performance. Most will fail, but it is what it is, and it’s certainly not the 50s through the 80s any longer. Hell, it’s not even like the 90s. Those days are long gone. They play for the name on the back of the jersey not the front. LSU is no different than other major schools.

These bowl games are all pretty much worthless and don’t even reflect the actual teams anymore

Wow - he has the flu. This type of overwhelmingly fanatically negative "make the worst out of any situation" reaction is why Saban left Baton Rouge and neer came back.

So, he left LSU for negative fans but ended up at Alabama....makes sense.

Hence the problem 5* who come in thinking they are entitled to start. Unfortunately with the age of NIL it’s tough to DEVELOPE within. Teams are going to have to play both sides. I would rather get a four start and then DEVELOPE them.
