LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker reportedly traveled to New Orleans on Monday to interview for the open Tulane head coach job, according to FOX 8 Reporter Garland Gillen

Baker played linebacker at Tulane from 2000 to 2004 before getting into coaching in 2009.

Baker was expected to continue his role as defensive coordinator at LSU under new head coach Lane Kiffin. Now, we will have to keep an eye on this latest development out of New Orleans.

Honestly, he’s better off staying at lsu. The path to a high level head coaching job would come quicker here than as a HC at a smaller school

Damn, I hope he stays. He is on a track to become a top five DC in the country. Two more years of improving that squad and he is inline for a P5 job.

I hope Baker stays. There will be other head coach jobs openings in the next two years or so for him to take at a higher level.

If I am Baker, I sit tight and learn some more offense. In two years after winning the natty for LSU, it really opens up for him.

Come on Blake, hang around LK for a couple years. It will increase your chances for success.

Don't do it Blake. Tulane is a dead end that will pay you less money.

A dead end that has had more success than LSU over the past 3-4 years. Our last 2 coaches have parlayed that job to much bigger ones. He definitely has the same opportunity

Ok, see if Aranda wants to return and get Coach O on the D-line and recruiting.

Follow Kirby's lead...stick around as DC for 6 or 8 years under LK then make your move. The risk will be nothing at that point.

I think an offensive minded coaches are better at those schools. Stay here Blake.
Just learn to deal with fast pace, no huddle offenses

Don't make the same mistake Aranda made.

Aranda left for a P4 school that was becoming a contender before the Briles scandal. Rhule had them back in contention before jumping for the NFL. That Baylor job was light years ahead of what Tulane is offering. If Baker takes this offer, it seems like he would be doing much worse than Aranda did.

Stands didn’t make a mistake. Baylor is a ceiling 8-9 year win team in good cycles and 7-8 in the norm. Baylor isn’t elite and it’s certainly not LSU.

Aranda did not make a mistake. He took his shot, made life changing money, and found out he simply is not head coach material at this stage of his career. If fired, he gets a decent buyout and/or can go back to being an elite level DC at a P5 school.
