OKC Sports Reporter Tweets That LSU Is In Play To Land OU QB Caleb Williams

Is there a chance that talented Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams could transfer to LSU?

According to Oklahoma City KWTV Sports Director Dean Blevins, Williams is down to Southern Cal and LSU as his top choices.

Many believe that the Oklahoma quarterback will follow Lincoln Riley to USC, but the thought of Williams landing at LSU would be huge for the Tigers.

The possibility would also create a log jam in the quarterback room with Myles Brennan, Garrett Nussmeier, and incoming five-star freshman Walker Howard.

Williams, a former five-star prospect from Washington, DC (Gonzaga HS), was heavily recruited by LSU as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2021 class. He ultimately signed with Oklahoma over the Tigers and passed for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns in 11 games during his freshman season this year.

Kelly will do whatever is best for LSU, not whatever is best for Myles Brennan.

Nothing at this time points to Myles being the starter within the current QB room. Besides, if he was concerned with competition, he would have hauled arse a long time ago.

So if Williams actually chose LSU and won the starting job, we should care more about Brennan's feelings than putting the best player on the field? This is why I hate hearing fans speak of "choosing kids loyal to LSU". Some kids may be loyal but most are not. Just ask yourself, are coaches loyal to the players? Coaches play who they believe to be better. A true freshmen will see the field as a starter if he proves to be the best, even over a senior. Sports isn't about loyalty, it's about winning and losing. That's the nature of competitive sports. There aren't any participation trophies at this level.

He learned from Lincoln how to leverage LSU for a bigger pay day, most likely. Although we have seen evidence that there is a ton of recruiting going on behind the scenes that isnt really leaking ahead of time. I still say smoke screen.
