LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier announced Wednesday evening that he will return to the team in 2025.

Nussmeier, a redshirt junior from Lake Charles, La., passed for 3,739 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions this season in his first year as LSU's starter.

For those who don't remember, Nussmeier chose not to play in the 2022 Texas Bowl against Kansas State as it would have burned up his redshirt for the 2021 season. LSU had no quarterbacks available in the Texas Bowl and had to start wide receiver Jontre Kirklin instead.

Had Nussmeier played in that game, this past season would have been last year at LSU.

Now, he's coming back to Baton Rouge for his final year of eligibility.

Give him #7! Been wanting to see it on a QB for a long time and the missed the opportunity for Jayden to wear it. LFG

I am Super glad that I was wrong when I said that CBK has lost the team after the loss to Fla. I am still not confident that he is the right fit for us yet, but I expected a lot more departures in the portal when it opened than what we got.

He better work on his slow feet and escaping the pass rush. He also needs to learn how to run. He needs to be under center, I don't think he was under center at all this year. He could then fake a hand off and use play action.

II Puldunes 87:1 Ye you shall not throw off of your back foot. Step into the throw and release while on your front foot.

I Corinboobah 32:3 Thou shall not throw the ball to opponent players, lest you will lose the game for LSU like you did 4 times this season.

Thessafootballians 26:2 Stop pointing to the sky all the time and just play football. I am not real. You are not receiving any special football powers to use against opponent players. You look stupid when you do it. Be a football player and play football.

What is his other option? ??
user avatar
Research it yourself... and when that overwhelming feeling of embarrassment and shame creep in embrace it and be better. His other OptionSss are the NFL (according to people who get paid for those evaluations) or transfer, like 75 percent of the rest of CFP. He's a rare one in today's world and has played hurt, waited his time and is coming back with No guaranteed weapons, OL or run game. He produced at a very impressive clip with the worst run game in the league. So yeah I guess leaving to go to a school like IDK bama or going to combine and wowing scouts with his arm and xs and os aren't really options. This is a weak QB draft class as well which means he could've likely passed up guys in front of him like milroe, beck, and more.
