According to multiple reports, LSU sophomore defensive end Zavier Carter is entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Carter, a former four-star prospect from Atlanta, Ga., appeared in 11 games this past season with five total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. He was expected to compete with redshirt freshman Quincy Wiggins to be BJ Ojulari's replacement at the JACK position.

Per The Advocate:

A four-star recruit from Atlanta, Carter played in 18 games over two seasons. He recorded nine tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble. He has two years of eligibility.

Both of Ojulari's backups this season, Carter and redshirt junior Desmond Little, have entered the transfer portal. The Tigers brought in Oregon transfer Bradyn Swinson and five-star Da'Shawn Womack at the position.
The Tigers signed three high school defensive linemen this past December.

5-star Dashawn Womack
4-star Jaxon Howard
3-star Dylan Carpenter

His time had actually came too and he left anyway. You know it’s tampering and NIL. He was going to be in the 2 deep rotation for BJ’s Jack spot.

Meanwhile, Kim Mulkey’s entire recruiting class is made up of all Americans, after she poached some of the best players through the portal. Athletes just want her to be their coach.

Freedom is not a bad thing. Best in life for the young man.

So if there is tampering going on, how do we combat that? The only way to know, seems to me, is to look at phone records and, of course, that's a privacy issue.

The same can be said for LSU incoming transfers. Let's not open a can of worms...

We should treat this no different than a computer science student transferring to another school. If they accept his LSU credits, he has fewer years. If not, he needs to spend more time at that school getting his credits. Football players should not be any different. Let them go the school of their choice.

This doesn’t help us, so I don’t think he was processed. But he likely wouldn’t be playing much and will go to a low tier program for more playing time.

Let's not bad mouth him just because he wants to go elsewhere. He is from Atlanta. He may want to play closer to home. Perhaps UGA which just won the title can use depth as well. Or a team like Auburn which is close enough to Atlanta. Not everyone in transfer portal goes to school in lower tier.

He wasn't being mentioned for significant time anyways right?

Eh he played in 11 games, you need depth on DLine. Wouldn't say this helps us.

Probably was, we’re thin at that spot.

He just needed another year to bulk up... still tweener in size (like BJ when he first got here.
