Let's be honest here...Les Miles had this program spiraling downward! If anything, Alleva didn't pull the trigger soon enough. That my friends, is why 4 and 5 star recruits started snubbing LSU. If you were an elite receiver during Les Miles' last 3 or 4 years would you have wanted to come to LSU? Where the development of a QB only meant how to hand off to a quality running back? It isn't Coach O's fault that Les set us up for less. It takes time to come back and I'm sure that Coach O is heading in the right direction. So quit hating and focus on your own life and all its' imperfections. Geaux Tigers & Geaux Coach O!

We went from 1958 to 2003 without winning a NC and LSU did ok. They won a lot of games and went to a lot of bowls. Now the team goes 9-4 and people trash the coach and call him names. In the old days he would get a raise and new Contract.

In what universe could Ed Orgeron build a championship program? He isn't qualified to run Vandy's defense.

You're such a voice of reason!

Dead Orgeron is never going to build anything at LSU but Citrus Bowl teams. You can't spell Citrus Bowl without LSU.

I'd like a Coach that can build a National Champion again? Know where we can find one?

I like Ed O as a coach and a Cajun character but when you continue to lose the best recruits to the already superior team, it usually gets you in the end. How anyone expects this year’s team to win 9 or more would be laughable. There will be lots of boohooing but you can’t keep losing early departures and expect to be the best unless you Recruit the best

Never really kept a close eye on recruiting over the years, but it seems that over the past year or so, there has been an alarming number of the defections from the recruiting program. Is it just me?

Well you really didn't pay attention to recruiting this year yes, Alabama stole CB Patrick Surtain Jr. but that was about it. Nick Saban and his cronies went after the prospects that signed with LSU really, really hard and got nothing I think Bama signed 2 recruits with the highest being a 3* CB. Unlike last year Coach O said he was going to stop that Northern Louisiana to Alabama pipeline and he did just that Saban tried but came away with zelch. I know there's a lot of hate around here for Coach O but you have to give him credit he literally cancelled Nick Saban free reign of Louisiana players and that is one thing he said he was going to do and he actually did it, BRAVO! Now if he can do the same next year keep that fence up around Louisiana LSU will finish #1 or 2 in the country with the local talent in the State next year. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN?????????

He wants them so bad that he's willing to travel all the way to Lafayette to get 'em.

So how much time he spent with the recruit to not know the type of person he was and if he fit the mold of the culture he is trying to build. Because O wanted him right up to him going somewhere else.

Good grief people, he was implying he wants players who want to earn their stripes. Not take what most consider the easy way out. Have a vision and build the team starting with your talent. Not just fall into the mix, grab you a ring and never be remembered.

"take the easy way out"????? By going to Alabama? Where the competition to even get on the field is extreme? Would you also tell an NFL player he should want to play for the Browns instead of the Patriots?

Have to agree with atltiger here. Most players want to go where they will have to compete against the best, and at Bama that’s the guy that’s lining up beside you and in front of you in practice.

The fans want a HC that CAN & WILL build a championship staff, team and culture. Not a HC that just talk about it.

A good coach could come into LSU and build a championship program. I have no doubt.

Well seeing it’s his first year give the man a break. Anyone remember nick Satan’s first year at LSU? What about at Bama? Lost at home to Univ of Louisiana monroe. It takes time, give the man 3 years before you start bashing his recruiting. He took over a mess.

Yes, after the fact, you can pick this statement apart. I actually think there is a ton of truth to it. The kids we get here have to be a different breed with a different gritty mindset. Awesome thing is...they know that. We may not be top 4 but I'll take every kid that wants to come here and fight. The band wagoners often become critical vulnerabilities.

"but I'll take every kid that wants to come here and fight."... Really? Is that our new recruiting standard? Is that the hiring a coach because "it's his dream job."

I agree atltiger, from some of these comments you’d think we were discussing Tulane recruiting. Remember when LSU was an elite program that competed at the highest level? A program that didn’t have to play up the underdog card? It wasn’t that long ago.

I don't get it with coach Orgeron when saying he wants to build a championships plural with recruits that want to be at Lsu... Mario goodrich is a lockdown corner and damn good and he wanted to be at lsu.. But when the head coach tells you no we do not have any room for you a damn good cb that he does not have room for. Then he tries to go back and get him when just 8 hours til signing day approaches. Sure hope he pulls his head out his arse before he gets fired at the end this 2018 season. Time is ticking

LSU has been left holding their jockstraps multiple times with recruits like this.(surtain) And if what you say is true about Goodrich, then shame on the staff. As the "burn me once" saying goes.....

So, if we win a National Championship, who can we recruit then? Or do we win one and then totally tank so we are always building?? In O's words shame on Any athlete that goes to a winning program!! I'm calling BS,,,if you build it, they will come.

Surtain Jr went to Bama because Bama hired Surtain Sr. His dad got the job with the promise that his son would commit. The same thing happened with Shea Patterson and his brother for Mississippi State. A lot of schools are using that scheme now and its something the NCAA should look into...

Larry hasn’t reported anything about Surtain Sr getting any job in Tuscaloosa? Are you being deceitful Douche337?

He hasn't been hired by Alabama. There was talk but it hasn't happened. Stop spreading fake news.

Ed couldn't build a championship team if you gave him a decade. This guy just turned out LSUs worst class in years. Hell he's had two top 10 classes signed and ended up with 4 losses.
