Ed Orgeron joined 104.5 ESPN's "Off The Bench" Tuesday morning and said that freshman defensive tackle Joseph Evans is moving to center to help add depth at the position.

Evans will compete with Chasen Hines at the position throughout spring practice and fall camp.

Evans could be the starting center in 2 years if he commits to this move. Good career move and more playing time.

Think this is a mixture, great depth and talent at DT, and not enough depth at Center, bigger upside for JoJo there and builds depth at C, win-win

If Joseph Evans is good with the move to C and he could do it than I'm cool with the move. Now the question is why the move? Is it because the coaching staff is not that comfortable with Chasen Hines as the starter or they're not that comfortable with the backups Cole Smith and Charles Turner? Teams are often good with three even two Centers on the roster if they are comfortable with their choices, so I just wonder. Thank GOD for Spring and Fall practices to straighten everything out and hopefully it all works out and we find a stater and viable backup. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN????????

Come Smith isn't on the team and Charles Turner doesn't weigh enough yet. Honestly don't even get why they signed Turner for center if he was that light

he was a beast in High School on both D and O line...he will fit in well at center and he is a large man that would clog some rush lanes no doubt...Good luck Joseph!

Sounds like a good opportunity for the young man.

Most if these kids played both ways, so I am not surprised by this. Remember Patrick Queen & Devon White were both running backs at 1 time, now they are hunting them down!

And he came from a small school, so it’s certainly very likely Evans played both ways.

Eaux giving guys opportunities to make an impact at other positions when they have a log jam at another instead of wasting a talent who can contribute.

I like having the nasty streak of a defensive player on the O-Line too.
