Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has passed away in Houston at the age of 25, according to Jacques Doucet of WAFB.

Lacy was arrested on charges related to a fatal car crash that occurred in December 2024, which killed a 78-year-old man. Lacy was accused of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with death, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Lacy was not invited to the NFL Combine because of the accident, and his legal situation put his potential NFL career in doubt.

Lacy, a native of Thibodaux, La., played his first two seasons at UL-Lafayette and transferred to LSU in 2022, where he played the last three seasons.

Lacy started in all 12 games last year, catching 58 receptions for 866 yards and nine touchdowns.

During his college career, he totaled 162 receptions for 2360 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Really sad story, feel so bad for everyone involved

Life is so strange. You know what prolly happened when Lacy found himself on the “other side”, across the veil? He first, met his family and friends who have already crossed over. They greeted him and let him know that he has exited 3D earth.

And then, back in the back waiting his turn was prolly the guy he caused to have died. He prolly held his hand out and approached Lacy or maybe gave him a hug. But he didn’t say, “I forgive you son.” He prolly said, “Thanks for holding up your end of the bargain.” Lacy prolly said the same thing back to him.

That’s how this stuff happens man. There are no accidents, there are no coincidences and there are no victims. Our souls get together on the other side and plot out lessons that they wanna learn while on 3D earth. They set up these scenarios, not only for the two principles here…but the family and friends involved with these two guys, these two souls also. Hell, we’re even in on this…or we wouldn’t know about it. (have you learned anything?)

Everything is agreed upon on the other side beforehand. They agreed that this was the way that they were both gonna exit earth this time around. Of course, it’s hard for us to understand this but that’s how it works. I’ve died twice and been on the other side a total of 3 times. I tend to believe em when they tell me that's how this works…haha.

I hope this give caution to me and others on this site (myself included) that people you say hateful things to in intense pressure situations, can take it like this. The whole world knew about his accident, his entire dream pulled from the combine. Just never know when someone may be on the tipping point. I was there just recently after so much unexpected taxes, money issues.

Horrible situation. Suicide is a permanent fix to a temporary problem. My wife and I have both lost parents to this . His worldly problems are over but they are only beginning for his family. It’s a terrible thing to go through.

Easy way out. A tragic event made more tragic.

Have you ever been in a situation where 100,000,000 plus knew you killed an ex-military, were going to get a $40 million contract, but then got all that pulled along with an NFL Combine invite, while also 22 or 23 year old? Yeah.

@Saunson69, No, he did something stupid. Tried doing it again, cops were chasing him at high speeds when he off't himself.
Just stupid and tragic.

What the hell is wrong with this Cheeto dude? I'm perfectly capable of holding two thoughts in my head. The people who were harmed by him deserve my sympathy to be sure. That doesn't mean I should be dancing over his death

Man I don't care what he did wrong 25 is awful early to make such a permanent decision. This sucks on steroids

Tragic all the way around, but there is way too much policing in the comments. It's fair to call him a coward.

Rest In Peace, young man!

These comments about he should be dead are sickening to read. Can 2 things not be true. Tragic that he killed someone unintentionally and also tragic that a young man killed himself. 2 families lost loved ones and are hurting. Nobody wins

The lack of sympathy and or empathy from people on this board unfortunately isn't surprising.

That is the world today. As a society we have list all empathy, morals, etc. Two families that need prayer and positive wishes for what they are going thru.

The pressure of knowing 100,000,000+ know you accidentally killed ex-military. Probably hundreds of thousands condemning online. Had a $40 million contract lined up, got pulled in an instant. His entire sure dream, was all of the sudden far-fetched. Which in honestly, he may have done 6 months to 1 year at most for negligent homicide *IF FOUND GUILTY*. He still had a chance to maybe get into the NFL. That pressure of knowing 100 million knew, all the online hate. He's 23 years old. It got to him. So sad.

Cheeto, gtfoh troll. Kyren losing his life as a 25 year old kid is tragic, just as much as the lives that were lost in the car accident he was involved in. Both can be true...life matters.

Your sentiment and hatred is a BIG part of the problems we face in society today.

Pass away would indicate that he died of natural causes. At the age of 25 this is highly unlikely. A tragic story

That 87 year old man he killed had a family
user avatar
BayouBengalDTX11 days
He didn’t kill the man on purpose. He made a very bad mistake. Just like the 87 year old man had a family, Kyren Lacy was family to many people. May they both rest in peace and my condolences go out to the 87 years old man’s family and Lacy’s family.

I can almost guarantee Kyren did not wake up that morning knowing that he would allegedly be involved in the death of that man.

He didn't "pass away." This was not a graceful death. Likely, a suicide, according to some reports. Lacy must have know his court date Monday would not go well. Simply a tragic story, including the 87-year-old man killed in the hit-and-run for which Lacy was likely at fault. Poor kid should have been a high NFL draft pick. His life was unraveling at age 24. Not a popular thing to write, but we all know it's true.

These are the words of a scumbag. Try to find it in your rotten soul to have some sympathy for his family.

You aren't complex enough mentally to care about two things. Got it.
