Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports
During a recent episode of his "Big Podcast," former LSU star Shaquille O'Neal was asked about his son Shareef transferring out of the Tigers' Basketball program and where he might end up next?

In his response, Shaq said that he didn't think LSU took care of his son...
quote:

"Wherever he decides, I'm behind him," O'Neal said. "He's a grown man. Make a decision."

"He's kind of had a lot of, wouldn't say, Basketball bad luck... He went to Arizona and had to switch up. He went to UCLA because Steve Alford was going to be there. He gets transferred, and a new guy comes in."

"And then we go to LSU where I thought they would take care of him, but they didn't. They have their own problems down there."

"I hope wherever he goes, he gets a shot. Because what people don't know... and I know, is that I have a 'Giannis with a jumpshop.' Hopefully, he gets to go to a place where he can showcase his talents and people can see who he really is."

What will be the story why Wade played Reid more than Shareef. Was it a dirty deal by Wade?
user avatar
Dwainwright25 months
Reid is a center. Eason played a lot at the 4 spot, which is Shareef's natural position. Shareef can also play the 3 but that was Days' spot. No one knew how good Eason was going to be. I would have like to have seen Eason, Shareef and Days together up front. I think that could have been a really good combo

A Dad talking about his Son who has transferred 3 times now and has had serious medical problems. Shaq thinks his son is better than he actually is but that is what Dad is supposed to do. Good luck to Shareef O’neal.

While that is true, always felt Shareef should have played more considering Reid and Fudge's contributions. Shareef always seemed more aggressive than Reid, but Reid got all the playing time. In the 5 games where O'Neal played 10+ minutes, he shot 60% in 4 of the games and 50% in the other. Wade did have his favorites.

A Giannis with a jump shot has got to be stretching the truth huh?
user avatar

I’d say most Nets fans would say that Giannis HAS a jump shot. lol

Lol @ “Giannis with a jump shot “. For fricks sake. I didn’t take shaq for the standard “play my son travel ball dad “

Sounds more like a dad trying to say his son isn’t the problem. A kid transferring 3 times comes off as he is the problem, ego, talent, whatever it may be. Dad is running PR for his kid to get a shot. If he were a Giannis he would be at a blue blood starting or drafted at this point.

"Giannis with a jumpshop" lol no fricking chance

You would think with no one on the current roster due to everyone transferring out, this would be a golden opportunity to play

How exactly did LSU not take care of him??

No strong arse offer...
user avatar

Shaqs kid should be the last one needing a strong arse offer. I bet this has more to do with not taking care of him getting enough playing time.

This was a concern from day one on this NIL deal...how the disparity of the deals will cause issues in the locker room. Are O-linemen going to expect a cut from the QB and RB or will there be some missed blocks from time to time to make it known that there should be?

Why does he (or any other player) deserve special treatment? Slippery slope.....

Doesn't that kind of contradict his "I'm rich, they aren't rich" lecture on his kids have to make it on their own?

Everyone on here said he should've gotten more minutes. Wade mismanaged the roster.
user avatar
TheRouxGuru25 months
Yea. Wade mismanaged the roster because the fricking rant said so. Y’all think too much of yourselves
user avatar
tygerphan25 months
Wade mismanaged the roster because better players played fewer minutes. And because they lost several games they shouldn't have.
user avatar

Everyone on here said Shareef should've taken over for Efton Reid like Shareef was a fricking center. It was stupid. If he was going to take over for anyone it would've been Days or Eason. Do you see why he didn't play more minutes now?
user avatar
TNTigerman25 months
Shareef would play one game but not appear in the next game or even two. I speculated Shaq had requested to Willy that he sit out a game or two so he wouldn't re-aggravate his foot injury.
user avatar
dwright36925 months
Give me fricking break w/ this crap. Shareef was either not medically cleared to play, or you know, just decided to not show up to the SEC tournament. And, the kid ain’t that good at basketball either, so there’s that as well……
user avatar
Dwainwright25 months
His grandfather died right before the SEC tourney so he went to the funeral. That's why he wasnt at the SEC tourney.

I hope he doesn't become embittered toward LSU. Wade was under heavy scrutiny the entire time shareef was here. You'd think the kid could get a good NIL deal here because of his dad, so I don't know why he's jumping ship with so little eligibility left.
user avatar
KAGTASTIC25 months
NIL deal question...other than just a pay off to keep him happy by "taking care of him"...who is going to be swayed to purchase anything from a business because he is Shaq's kid?
user avatar
That’s a shame.

Hmm. Well, we all love Shaq- but this will be stop #3 for the young man. I hope he finds a spot someplace- but why would a school refuse to play someone if he really were better than others on the roster?
user avatar
RightWingTiger25 months
Arizona, UCLA, LSU & this one makes 4 stops for him.
