Passing through Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Lunch and dinner

Passing through Baton Rouge, Friday at lunchtime with some friends from Oklahoma. What would better be a better lunch experience? The Chimes or Parrain’s.
That night we will be in New Orleans for one meal. If you had one meal to eat at a sit down restaurant, where it be?

If you’re drinking beer or want to eat on the rooftop, go Chimes. If you’re not, go Parrain’s. They’re basically the same food wise. There’s a lot of other solid BR options outside pf those two, but they’re good options.
One meal in New Orleans? Probably August or Commander’s.

Out of those two, the LSU location of Chimes. It's move in weekend at LSU, so that place will be buzzing.
If it's the Coursey location of Chimes, I'd pass
Parrain's is always a good meal.

I don’t think sitting on the rooftop for lunch with 110° heat index would be a fun experience.
I would think lunch indoors at The Chimes would be a fun experience on Friday with a new semester and the upcoming football season excitement on campus.

Based on another thread, Friday is move in day for freshmen at LSU; so I'd imagine places close to campus will be packed.

I now spend significant time across the country eating. More often than not that food is pizza or Italian fare. Without hesitation I can tell you Impastato’s is America’s best Italian restaurant. It is always the correct answer when visiting New Orleans.

The Chime’s and Parrain’s are owned by the same group. Parrain’s a bit more sit-down vs The Chime’s which is a little more sports bar. Both are solid choices depending on what your group prefers.

Parrain's is the better choice for your "passing through". It is much easier to get to/from the Interstate and parking is usually not a problem.

Local flavor and authentic feel that is more relaxed, Jacques-imos. Alligator cheesecake is worth it. Strong drinks. Maple Leaf bar next door, Carrollton Station near and Rock n Bowl up Carrollton after for real Nola music.
After these 2, chew a few cholesterol pills each day for a month. Worth every chew!
