6 months into owning my first Android phone

I used Android many years ago for work and I hated the phone with a passion. I have been an iPhone user since the first iPhone but since then Android has stepped up their game big time
My Android phone itself is phenomenal - it's a Galaxy a20 something.. I can't remember what nunber
I think it blows iPhone away
BUT
The apps suck arse. 80% of the apps I have downloaded and installed on this phone sucks. They are slow or always down or always freezes up, etc
Google really needs to quality control the apps added to its play store. One thing iPhone does is that they are very strict with what they allow on their app store.
For example, I can't even use the ESPN app. Even though I only have notifications to alert me for my favorite teams, I kept getting hundreds of alerts everyday about everything
The Facebook app fricking sucks. It freezes up constantly
A radio app I loved on iPhone basically doesn't even work on this Android phone
Everything about this Samsung phone is amazing but having so many issues with apps, I am actually thinking about going back to iPhone because the apps on Android are too buggy or simply don't work properly
Do any of you Android users on here have problems with your Android apps?

I have been using Android for probably 13 years and never had any app issues

Congratulations? Our telecoms literally give all of America two phone choices and you got the other one?

You should've got an S26 Ultra. No lag on the big dog.

Comparison is the thief of joy.
Stick with what you're used to and what works for you. Don't change platforms for the novelty of it, because that novelty wears off pretty soon.
Android works, but so does iOS. Arguments can be made for either as a pro or a con depending on your point of view.
IMO, I like that Apple's phones are "boring." I don't want a gadget that I can tinker with. I want an appliance that I can just use. The less I have to interact with it, the better.
Android tends to be for people that enjoy tinkering with things and want to "be different" for the sake of being different.

I have S26 Ultra. No issues whatsoever with those apps. It may be your actual phone that's the problem.

Plugged my phone into my laptop. Dragged some movie files right over. Done. I want freedom and I want flexibility. Not for the sake of themes or other stuff like that, but actual functionality.

That said, I was surprised that the Pixel hasn't advanced much since the 5. It's funny to watch all the fanfare about each new release and it's usually little different from the one it replaced.

You bought Samsung's welfare poverty model phone. What do you expect?

In 2010 I got a Samsung Galaxy phone.. Don't know the model.. But that thing was bullet proof.. Did exactly what I wanted.. Then during Ida I used a generator to charge it and killed it... The replacement was a Galaxy A02s and it is a POS.. Screen flickers and changes size and becomes unresponsive.. Verizon is a good provider.. I am just too lazy to look around for a new company with a good phone deal and plan...

I don't know how apps could run better than they do now.

Yes.. thinking about it now it's pretty amazing.. The phone worked great all those years.. Phone calls and emails, that's about it.. Some internet at times, but that was pretty slow..

I am in the same boat as the OP. My carrier requires a physical sim so I switched from an iphone 13 to the s26 so i could get a phone with a new battery.
I also have apps that just lock up and won't open sometimes, mainly garmin and my garage door app.
The camera on the S26 is light years ahead of my old one.
