I am very upset. My pristine turf in my backyard is getting destroyed by armadillos. Can anyone out there help me figure out out how to stop them.

Join the crowd. I kill them with a 22lr when I can actually catch them in the act. I had to put up fencing around a newly planted crepe myrtle to keep them from digging it up.

Easiest time is at dark. They are almost blind as a bat in the day time and seem even more blind at night. I was walking back towards our house on a dimly lit pathway and saw one walking right at me coming out of the woods, oblivious of anything going on around it. It got about 5' away and I yelled at it. It jumped about 2' straight up in the air, and ran about 15' away and stopped at a big tree trunk with its back to me thinking it was hiding. I didn't have anything to kill it with.

Get a trap, place it along a wall or fence nearest where it digs. Kill it then dump it somewhere.

Get a trail cam, most now come with an app that will notify you when that the little devil comes into your yard.
A 12-guage shotgun with buckshot, boom. Problem solved.
Traps are really based on the luck of the draw. I have never caught one with a trap.
Supposedly there is one of those scented traps that works. I can't say if they work or not. The seller is in Miss so you can get it pretty quick.

They’re dumb, you can use 2x4s to cast a wide net and lead them to the trap.

Look online for wooden armadillo trap. I built two out of pressure treated plywood and have caught numerous armadillos, several possums, a cat, and a turtle. They work great. You place them where they walk and can funnel them towards it with boards or something else if needed. No bait used.
You can then relocate or kill them. I recommend killing them.
