I have an unpopular opinion around here, guns and alcohol do not mix, hunt all you want, drink all you want, but once you start drinking hunting is over

assuming you mean "our" but he being your father in law, is it his family's land or your family's land? If it is his then his rule applies, if it is yours he can choose to come and hunt as a guest or stay home

when all else fails refer to the Golden Rule

Peppered as in pellets rained down softly on him?

Or

Peppered as in from about 50 yards pellets nailed him head on causing some bleeding?

Bring your cold beers, have fun, and when done make it rain

I used to drink that beer when dove huntin but I doubt do this year on account of these lil seltzers they make nowdays are awfully refreshing on hot summer day and don't fill you up as bad and even though pow pow says they'll make you queer I don't care cause I've been drinkin em and aint sucked a peter yet so that's what I might be drinkin on dove day.

the owner makes the rules.

however, just keep it quiet, do not make a big deal. Don't throw it in his face.

And most importantly.....be careful.

Part of the fun of dove hunting is sitting on the tailgate drinking cold beers. Hell I shoot better after 2 or 3. If he's an invited guest and he doesn't like what goes on he can stay his arse at the house. If he owned the land then it would be different..

I agree completely. No alcohol at all while handling a firearm. None. I will be 3 sheets to the wind heading offshore to fish but I would not have a drop while hunting. Have had people in the duck blind who wanted to have a little for medicinal purposes...I would not hunt with them again. It just isn't worth it....there is a time and place for it and anything to do with a gun is categorically not the place for any amount of alcohol.
