Replacing Pentair pool lights

$440 for the globrites

ETA: My markup on equipment is 30%. Which I feel is fair. If you’re paying anything over than that, let me know. Labor pricing can be discussed later. It’s too hot to discount labor that much lol

Mine has a retaining ring behind the pool wall (fiberglass). I don’t know how the hell to replace it without ripping up the deck. It’s not a pentair light. It’s a PAL2000? I bought the house with the pool already installed.

I need to find some sort of fitting that will accept other lights.

I paid $800 to change one light and power supply. I used it maybe 5 times in a year and it went out. I ended up getting a light off amazon and changed it out myself. It takes maybe 20mins by yourself. The longest was trying to get the old light out without the right tool. I ended up using two flathead screwdrivers and finally got it out.

I can only speak to the POS Globrites but all my failures have been water intrusion.

Replace with microbrites. They are better and if an adapter is needed it isn’t that much. That said they are just less junky junk. I would learn to do it myself but labor for my three is like 100 bucks. They can change them in minutes. Still like 1850. And looks like they have a timer to go to hell about a month after warranty.

Yeah, you may as well enjoy them if you do, they are going to shite anyway. Ours were probably run a total of 200 hours over three years, we rarely use them and turn off as soon as bedtime because they flicker into our bedroom.

Word is the micros have had some improvements, so far we are happy with the conversion. I agree with you, they are both substandard even with improvements if you read online.

I hate it, but changing them out every three or four years is still a cheaper option than busting out the pool and placing an old fashioned light in. The quote for that was like 8-10k if I remember correctly, I can change these things out for 15-20 years and have better lighting.

Wish I could go back and install the 50 dollar bulb set up when we built the pool.

My main LED pool light went out two months ago and I was floored when quoted $2800 to install a new one. It's the old school full size light and not one of the new mini ones.

I decided to put off the repair until after the summer and bought a $75 dollar light off Amazon that sits on the edge of the pool with a solar panel and has an arm that puts the light under the water. I expected it to be cheap but something I wanted to try for the low price. Turns out it looks as good as the old light. I have had it there for two months and am going to order a couple more as back ups and not repair the busted out light. Bonus, it has a pool temp reading right on the face.

Not the exact one but it looks similar.
