A couple buddies and I are scheduled for our annual trout trip to Grand Isle - Friday. Was curious how the bite has been. I know the wind/weather hasn't been favorable thus far. Forecast is looking promising for Friday. We typically launch at Sand Dollar and fish 4 bayou area. Haven't done very well the last couple years, though. Any tips would be greatly appreciated !

I fished 4 bayous week before last (May 30). water was off and not much action. I hear the fish are more west but that all could have changed since.

Saw some folks catching some hammers in front of Elmer’s today in the waves. I would get some live shrimp and croakers and fish Elmer’s island. Try to find some decent water.

Fish the shrimp under a cork and free line the croakers.

Annual Trout Trip - Grand Isle

Man, years ago we used to have a trip to Cocodrie about this time of year for a week of trout fishing. Those were the good old days!

Tips : Live shrimp under a cork or free lined near the rocks in front of the island or in the back bay. A lot of people don’t fish the back, bay but I usually do very well there. In the heat of the summer the bite ends early so you have to start at first light. They usually bite good in the evening too. Also I know you have your dates set but I don’t make the drive there unless tide and wind are favorable. I make a lot of day trips. Good luck !!!
