Went from zero of these 3 years ago to thousands now. Every shrub, tree and power line has them. Had to add spider sticks to front of all the SXS. Can’t walk in the woods anymore without a stick in front of you.

Joro watch

Frick China for these and the Asian lady beetle infestation.

Not my hand bro. I use the sun for time of day.

They are harmless sure. That doesn’t mean you want them all over you every time you walk down a trail. It’s the volume that is alarming in such short window.

Two years ago thought it was those or the banana spider. Each year the volume has increased exponentially. They get too big for the predators they have.

We called them banana spiders when I was a kid riding three wheelers. Guy in front would duck and I’d get hit with a face full of web.

Went to the site you linked. Looks like they are only in Georgia for now.

What damage do they cause? Looks big enough to prey on birds.

I had one build a web across my back door in Georgia around 2012.

Had no idea what it was until now.

We did too. Golden Orbs are part of a larger family of spiders that are all known as banana spiders. Golden Orbs are just the North American banana spider. So, basically same thing.

I was talking about this the other day. They were everywhere in NE Georgia the last 2 years. I haven't seen one of them this summer.

So far, they’ve really just been a nuisance. You literally have to walk in woods with a stick in front of your face for three months. They have at least doubled each year for the last three years.

Pros are they eat the frick out of stink bugs and skeeters.

I have a bunch in my backyard. Their webs are impressive. Last year there was a web about 30' across my street up in the trees. I have a bunch of birds around, but they don't seem to eat them. I'll knock down webs around the pool, and a couple days later they pop right back up. I absolutely hate spiders, but I have to respect these asian frickers.

They can easily shoot their web 20 feet. I have them spanning my 30 foot driveway.

You can take the web and wrap it around your finger like a nylon string. It doesn’t snap.
