Sacramento to SFO, about 80 miles. We were in a twin prop with 19 tiny seats. The flight time was something like 25 minutes. The crosswind was terrible on takeoff and the turbulence on ascent was the worst I've ever been in. I've never been airsick, but I was close that afternoon.

I used to start the timer on my watch when we began to roll on takeoff and stop it at touchdown to see how long the actual flight was, versus the gate to gate time. (Had to do something to amuse myself before inflight entertainment systems) When I started to feel really sick, I remember looking at my watch. We'd only been flying 6 minutes and I remember thinking, "I'll never make it 19 more minutes without puking."

By some miracle, I didn't puke. The SFO to SMF return leg was almost as bad the next night. I've sworn off that flight. I'd rather sit in traffic on I-80.
