Alright went against my original request of no tropical places and we are taking a Thurs- Sunday trip to Key West for our anniversary. We will be staying at Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton

I’ve been once before years ago but want to get some ideas on cool stuff to do/places to eat etc.

They’ve been renovating that hotel for a while now. It was closed for about 5 months. Not sure they are done yet, but most of it should be. Haven’t been over there in a while. It’s in a unique location. Louie’s Backyard is walking distance from there. It’s a good restaurant and the deck is great for day drinking.
Best stuff to do in KW involves getting out on the water. Weekends is when everyone is at the sandbars. Best breakfast place near your hotel is Banana Cafe.

Low Tide charters is good if you want a sandbar trip or a fishing trip.

Captain Mike is really cool and laid back, knows good spots, and has a nice center console boat.

I would definitely make a reservation at latitudes. We tried for dinner or lunch but booked late and settled for early morning breakfast. I was hesitant but it was a beautiful cool morning and it was extremely relaxing.

Also, we enjoyed the sunset cruise a lot. We had the entire boat booked with friends where they served booze and finger foods, but I wouldn’t hesitate doing it with some other random people.

Definitely rent bikes

I was there last April.

I started a thread about it here, got some very good advice and posted a short recap at the end.

Lattitudes holds back online reservations in case of weather and for homeowners/island guests. If it looks booked on Open Table you can give them a call. At that point, it’s sort of a manager’s option to take the reservation so how you make your case for a table helps.

The view is great. For lunch I highly recommend requesting inside by the windows. It’s open air so it feels like outside, but it doesn’t have the flies you get when you’re at a table in the sand. The flies are the worst.

Definitely do a full day fishing charter if you're in to that. You can stay closer over a reef or structure and fish for yellowtail snapper (so good). Or go further out looking for Mahi Mahi. They'll filet them for you at the dock obviously. Then take them to Dante's at the north end of Duvall St. and they'll cook it for you. I recommend it blackened and fried, the grilled doesn't have much flavor.

The strip of bars on Duvall is a great time obviously.

Duval is about 16 blocks long. Above the 800 block my favorite places for dinner on that side of town include:
915, Martins, Blue Heaven, Banana Cafe, and Louie’s Backyard. Easily among the best places for dinner in KW.
Lattitudes is a great experience for the setting, food is upscale but not the reason to go there.
Prime is a an upscale steakhouse that is about what you’d expect in that category.
Marquesa is a very underrated upscale restaurant that has a great clientele.
Bob’s on Margaret is a new place in a great neighborhood that was where Michael’s used to be. Popular among snowbirds, and the food has been great every time I’ve eaten there.

Alot will disagree but I say skip Latitudes and rent a boat, captain it yourself and take it on the water. Bring a dinner, drinks, etc and watch the sunset from there.

Went with the wife (no pics) in November for our honeymoon. We only went for a day, but there was a lot we did. Pedicab tour, Margaritaville, Green Parrot, Sip & Sail sunset cruise.

Plenty to do. Ironically, the day we visited Key West, we ran into a bunch of LSU fans on a cruise. The band playing in Green Parrot was from Grand Isle

Go all the way to Key West to hear Tee Nah Nah.
