Traveling with my wife, daughter, and MIL (basically three versions of the same woman) for a long weekend. Most of it will be shopping, sightseeing, and a day at Tybee Island. But, graciously, I’ve been given leave to decide on one activity for the family. I’ve narrowed it down to two options:

1. The 8th Air Force Museum

Or

2. The USS Yorktown

I’ve never visited either. My question to the OT is which one is better to go nerd-out for a few hours?

Toured the Yorktown and Fort Sumter about 20 years ago... they were both cool.

You're welcome.

Go to the 8th Air Firce Museum there. I’ve been to it and highly recommend it.

So, you’re telling 8th during the day, Yorktown that night. Perfect!

Thank you

I’d skip both and do a walking food tour.

Both are very good choices. You could also add a sunset or daytime sailing cruise. The usually leave from near the Aquarium on the river.

Do these for sure. There are two smaller boats next to the Yorktown you should also check out.

Yorktown is awesome to explore on your own.

Did Yorktown and Fort Sumter recently and enjoyed my time. Could have spent more time just reading all the plaques but the wife was bored.

We toured Fort Sumter a couple years ago. I’m leaning more to USS Yorktown now I think.

The Yorktown is really cool if you’ve never been on a WW2 carrier. That, the submarine and a trip to Ft Sumter is a half a day though.

Also, be warned that Charleston can be hot AF in the summer.

I’ve never been to the Air Force one, but the Yorktown one and fort Sumter are cool. If you have time ride out to Fort Moultrie on Sullivans island. I like that one as well

Hit up Fort Pulaski right there at Tybee. It’s an interesting piece of American history.

Saw him at the Riverdogs game last week and then out with Austin and Whitney at Reds about two months ago. Whitney played guitar for a few songs with the band.

Saw Taylor last month at The Dinghy on IOP

Only one now (USS Laffey destroyer). The Clamigore submarine was removed and scrapped a couple of years ago.

I haven’t been to the Yorktown. It was many years ago when I was there. I’m going back in a few months to do both.
