We will be there this weekend. We wanted to avoid Navy Pier, the bean, and of course getting shot.

We were planning on going to watch the White Sox and also the Cubs plus visiting Northwestern. Any more suggestions? TIA.

We won’t be renting a car either.

Well if the southside kids start wilding on Michigan ave, you may have to try harder to not get shot.

That being said, putz around the Wicker Park area.

We’re taking the L to Guaranteed Life Stadium. I figured that was enough adventure for the trip.

World class museums- field museum, museum of science and industry etc. The Art Institute has one of the best collections in the country. Chicago River kayak tours. River architecture tours. Aquarium has belugas and dolphins! Lincoln Park Zoo is FREE!

You can get anywhere on an uber!

I could spend all day at the Art Institute. Loved it.

The Red Line subway is very easy to reach either stadium and highly recommended. There is no freeway near Wrigley so don't even try a cab. Cubs games are incredible.

Have breakfast at Little Three Happiness in Chinatown. Get lost in Lincoln Park and Lakeview after the cubs game and enjoy some local fare.

If you really want to go for an adventure, ride the brown line subway out to Kedzie (second last stop) and eat your way across 25 different cultures.

Fulton Market area is full of brewery tasting rooms, cool restaurants, etc.

Billy Goat Tavern is worth a stop for a beer or even a cheeseburger, just to say you did. Saw some guys in there getting a Chicago Handshake: Old Style beer with shot of Malort. Maybe next time.

Willis Tower Skydeck. Walk out in the glass boxes for a unique experience. Alternative is the Hancock building observation floor.

plus visiting Northwestern

If you’re planning to walk around Northwestern, check out Loyola, too. Beautiful campus.

Explore some neighborhoods —
- Southport Corridor in Lake View is family-friendly
- Wicker Park has a great mix of eclectic boutiques and bigger-brand (i.e. YETI) stores
- Riverwalk is a nice stroll + a few beer gardens
- Lincoln Park has beautiful homes and tree-lined streets. Fullerton from Halsted to Clark is one of my favorite walks in the city. Check out the skyline view from Diversey Harbor.

A lot of good recommendations in this thread for a weekend visitor.

Go to the Sox game first if possible. It will be a big letdown if you go to Wrigley first then visit the southside for a game.

Not sure if your trip is over already, I live in Lincoln Park. Great neighborhood and plenty of bars to try out.

Au Cheval has a fantastic burger in west loop but may have to wait a while for it

This. I'm always skeptical of these type things, but had a friend insist that we do it. Absolutely loved it. Would do it again.

Cubs game if at all possible. I'm not much of an MLB fan, but Wrigley was one of the best sports experiences I've had. My wife, who could typically not give a shat about baseball, still talks about how much fun it was.

Corridor Brewing has some amazing beer and is easily walkable to Wrigley.

Really fell off when MoRE took Eric Padilla a few years ago. Ironically, Eric recently went to Open Outcry on the far southside.
