re: Cities / Places that you've been and enjoyed, but no desire/need to go back

know I'll catch flack, but for me, the Gulf Coast
Agreed. It blows my mind what people are willing to spend to go sit on an AL/FL beach for a week. I get bored sitting on the beach for more than a couple days anyway.
Some that come to mind for me: San Francisco - Glad I've visited, but no desire to go back, especially with the shape that much of it is in now.
Vegas - I enjoyed it the first time (about 10yrs ago), but stayed a couple nights recently, starting and ending a Utah trip, and couldn't get out fast enough.
Disney - My daughter gets a trip this year and then I'm done. If it weren't for her, no chance I'd be there.
NYC - Really enjoyed the trip, but hasn't ever crossed my mind to go back.

Man, that's one of my favorite cities. Really would like to go back around Christmas time.

Costa Rica
Planning to make my second trip next year. Will do things a bit differently, but loved it there.

Charleston
This is another good one. The beaches aren't anything to special. The food is good; New Orleans' food scene is much better. King St/South of Broad/The Battery is nice and all, but you can really see it in a day. The architecture resembles much of New Orleans. Despite the crime and general shitheads that control and roam the city, New Orleans also has much, much, much more going on in terms of entertainment. Charleston was nice, in a quaint, cute way. I can see how a lot of women like it. It's just hard to justify going back when New Orleans is 45 minutes away.

Venice.
Good to go once, but once was enough.
Will absolutely go back to Amalfi, Tuscany, and Florence.
Rome is 50/50.
Runner ups - coolest to least cool.
Sydney.
NYC.
Vegas.
LA.
DC.
New Orleans.
Charleston.
Savannah.
Disney.
Austin.
Cabo.

New Orleans. I burnt out on it during my time at LSU. I literally groan when people bring it up.
NYC. I like Chicago better for that big city atmosphere.
Washington, DC. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
LA & SF. California cities are a mess right now.
London. It’s just like NYC with red double decker buses.
Jamaica. I don’t mind Caribbean locals when I cruise, but Jamaicans are constantly in my face trying to hustle. It’s unnerving and makes me very uncomfortable.
Nassau. I never get off the cruise ship there anymore.
Bonaire. I don’t scuba dive. Aruba and Curaçao are just better.
Detroit & Ann Arbor. I’ve been. Not a UM fan. Not much to do in either place.
Milwaukee. I just wanted to be in Chicago the whole time I was there.

Even San Diego? I've been twice this year and can't wait to go back.
or Santa Barbara. To just write off the entire state is laughable. The natural resources in many areas are incredible.

Minneapolis/St. Paul- Had a nice summer visit
Pretty easily one of my favorite cities to visit in the summertime. Incredible amount of breweries (North Loop and North East) and recreation (lakes, Mississippi, Greenway trail) makes for some fun days and evenings.

If you're going for a weekend of drinking, it's hard to beat MKE. IMO, best bar city in the country - bars/taverns, literally, on every corner.

San Francisco - Seen all the major sights more than once. It's not going to be different next time.
Los Angeles - Done Disney there, seen a show filmed, beaches, etc.
Seattle - seen the city. I'd go to back to go to Cascades NP.
Rocky Mountain NP - unless I'm in good enough shape to hike Sky Pond, I've seen it all. Lots of other places in Colorado to go. eta: I've been here a lot! It's a great place, but I just need to go elsewhere.
The Ozarks - eta: nice, but this is literally the only place we went when I was a kid growing up. I took so many trips to Eureka Springs, Silver Dollar City, and Table Rock Lake that I just don't care to ever go there again.

I've connected at the dump of LAX a few times and will never go there again. Never been to actual city.
What's the point of even visiting LA when I know San Diego is exponentially better?

Far and away, the leader here for me is Las Vegas

my son lives there and i was actually amazed at the sheer # of asian 'massage' parlors there are just off the strip.

food was meh; everything was overpriced and since i'm not a degenerate gambler

just not my tempo. i have to go back yearly for a conference and i'm not even a little excited.

I'm so surprised that no one wants to return to Vegas. I guess either you like it or you don't and if you don't like to gamble, it's overpriced, overcrowded, and just too much. But I like to gamble and it's a lot more fun than Lake Charles or the MS coast.

if you don't like to gamble

i majored in math at LSU (no lie) and gambling has *ZERO* appeal to me.
i actually tried once to do the 'all on red or black' at roulette in the mirage where i was staying and i was told by the dealer that i could not do that; i had to spread my bet around.

that ended my very short gambling career. i finally break down and try something with the best odds and Vegas decided they didn't want to give me a one time bet with 49% odds. i was pissed.
walked back to teller, cashed my chips and went for a walk in the mall at ceasers palace instead and looked at watches i couldn't afford.

Yeah, that's a good one. You can do Key West in 2 days. I was ready to get out in 1.

I spent 3. Had a really good time. No need whatsoever to return. It really does have this sort of 'end of the world' vibe that hits you pretty hard at some point in the span of about a weekend.

How about Big Sur? Does that suck too.

Vienna, Hanoi and Saigon. I can say I’ve been there. Not going back unless it’s free.
