Taking 2 other couples to Asheville in September. What are some must do’s for a quick weekend? None of them have ever been. Will likely do Biltmore one afternoon and probably hit up some breweries in the evening.

Last year we tubed the French Broad River ... the description said we would be able to see the back of the Biltmore, I guess if you had some binoculars maybe.. but could hardly see it .. would not do it again.. overall not very scenic

Info on tubing near Asheville.

We did the Green River tubing through Wilderness Cove in Saluda because my husband liked that they rented tube trackers. Enjoyed a late lunch afterwards at The Purple Onion.

It's going to take more than an afternoon to see Biltmore. There are several different house tours available...not counting the outside gardens and shops in the old horse stables. Set aside a day to see everything right.

A lot f the tubing places shut down after Labor Day. There are some nice hikes around the area. If the weather is nice Mt Pisgah gives you a good view.

Biltmore is so cool. Tour the whole grounds too, not just the house.

Went recently. Downtown Asheville is somewhat junky and impossible to park. Lots of homeless and blue hair /hipster people. Lots of hiking and rafting in Nat Park. Stay on property at Biltmore and you get the run of the grounds all day.

Go to the Omni Grove Park Inn. Drop the ladies off at the Spa, go play golf.

After yall are done, grab a drink and watch the sunset on the property.

When I was there in early July only guest staying at the Omni could schedule spa appointments. The course was open to everyone and it was beautiful. Same for the restaurant.

To the OP, it's about 1:45 drive to go buy water rafting on the Nantahala from Asheville. It's super easy and I would suggest renting the inflatable kayaks.

Terrible advice.

What do you disagree with? Just curious; I don’t have a view point either way.

When I was there in July I didn't think overrun with homeless. I walk all around downtown and actually didn't see many at all.

Also it was pretty easy to find parking downtown. They have a few different parking garages that were never full.

Now if the whole BLM/trans rights stuff gets under your skin, then you may not like it. About every other store has a sign in the window about that.

Don't get me wrong, the Biltmore is great. I just wouldn't drive/fly all this way to stay on the property.

So many other great/better options for food/drink/adventure to dedicate all your time to the Biltmore.

Downtown is 99% tourist this time of year. Anyone complaining about the homeless/hipster people downtown is just looking to bitch about something. They are likely triggered by the smallest of things.

All matters what you are into. There are definitely better smaller more limited mountain towns around.

Just an observation on downtown Asheville and the quality of staying on property at Biltmore. Biltmore is very well done and a great place to stay. I just wasn’t impressed with downtown Asheville. There are some nice thing around there though.

Fun fact: A bunch of the college-aged workers there are from the Land Mass.

Have been for years. Mainly Moo Staters.
