re: Asheville Couples Trip
We just got back. Highlights from the trip, Burial had the best beer and cool/laid back vibe (didn't have to wear a mask / no weird ordering protocols).

Sierra Nevada is almost a must, just to check out / day drink. We ate lunch there but make a reservation if you want to do that.

The Biltmore is cool. You can spend as little or as much time as you like there depending on your interest. For me, 3-4 hours would be more than enough.

We ate at Forestry Camp and Zambra. We had to make reservations late in the game and many places were already booked. That being said, we enjoyed both places.

Sunny Point Cafe is a fantastic breakfast spot.

Hot Springs is about 45 minutes away. It’s one of my favorite small towns and honestly I’d just assume go there than Asheville. Make sure you make reservations to go sit in the hop springs.

This. 3-4 hours is enough to see the house and gardens. The Village Hotel and Winery is a newish development that feels out of place to me. It has a fake town/ski resort feel to me. Skip it and go downtown or out to the Sierra Nevada Brewery.

Asheville is overrated.
Good place to go but not as great as its made out to be.

Had the polar opposite experience. It way exceeded my minimal expectations.

Lots of food and breweries, like any city in the country. That's about it in the city.

I drove through to the Mountains, didn't see anything in Asheville that stood out to me.

There's a lot of great little towns within 30minutes-1hour of Asheville. Makes it easy to stay and hang out a lot in them and go into Asheville once or twice, so you can appreciate some of the good things about it (and there still are plenty) but not be constantly overwhelmed by the dirty hippie/homeless/woke-on-steroids contingent.

re: Asheville Couples Trip
I didn't want to start another thread for this so, girlfriend and I are looking to go to the Biltmore end of November when they have all of their Christmas stuff out. Where does everyone stay when they go to that area? Staying at the Biltmore is out of the question. Thanks in advance.

You can stay anywhere. Asheville is easy to drive around and there's plenty of parking at the Biltmore. We stayed at the Doubletree downtown and it was fine for us.
