Got an email from them today that, unless my reading comprehension is failing, said you will only earn miles if you book directly with them or a partner airline. That's kind of nuts.

If you fly with them at all, then it makes getting one of their credit cards a better deal, as that waives the bag fees.

That's probably AA's thought process here: "We'll get more credit card signups by making the card a better value."

How does that work for people like corporate or government employees that have a 3rd party book for them?

My issue is that I live in a non-hub that's always a competition for price and sometimes a major issue with time between all of the bigs. It also really depends on where I"m flying in regards to which makes more sense, west I'd prefer American and DFW, north Delta, and east delta or American.

Free with credit card and your passengers. One of the reasons I keep delta and AA credit cards. Saves me for 4 bags every time we fly

This is my question as well. I book all of my flights thru Concur and they’re billed to a master account. I have an AA credit card, but it doesn’t pay for these flights.

This isn't going to help with that. I'm expecting longer boarding times because more people will bring their suitcase on the plane. By the time group 6 gets on bins will be full and they'll have to gate check everything else leading to delays. Only going to get more miserable

They just had record profits, so this is expected.

This is what irks me....why should I have to keep my backpack under my feet b/c everyone is too cheap to check a bag. It also creates longer on boarding and off boarding times. Instead increasing the price of checked bags, they should've added a fee for carry-ons. AA is the worst fricking airline anyway.....I put them below the Spirits and Frontiers of the world.

We also shouldn't forget to assign a part of the blame for this to the federal government. Airline tickets are subject to a 7.5% excise tax, but there's no tax on incidentals like bag fees. So, airlines like Southwest that include a free bag with airfare face a tax disadvantage.

I don't think i've ever paid for checked bags in my life, and i'm not a diamond platinum vibranium member on any airline. I'm just a regular jo blo passenger.
I also rarely ever check a bag, and i've been on week plus long trips before and didn't need to check a bag.
stop packing like a woman.
