Me and Mrs are going back to Vail week of Presidents Day. Can’t wait. This is our 5th year going and Vail never gets old or stale and the skiing is awesome

That’s our favorite. As much as we like Vail Village we love the Arrabelle hotel.

Possible to stay in Avon and do ski in/ ski out or do you have to stay in Beaver Creek for this?

Looks like you could take a short gondola ride to the lift

Maybe check out Arrowhead (the right of the map). I really like that area of the mountain, and there are very few people on it too.

Looks like a good snow storm for this weekend in Colorado and Utah. I leave for Park City on Dec 21st. I'm so ready.

We need some natural bad.

Was out for two hours midday today. Kinda happy with conditions. Not too icy. Soft in the sun. Just desperate for more terrain to open.

Headed to Crystal and Snoqualmie 12/15-12/18, then Alyeska 12/19-12/21. Alaska looks good for snow at least...

The Arrabelle Hotel is in the Lionshead area of Vail. The Eagle Bahn gondola is 50 steps from the hotel door. The hotel has treated us great every time we have stayed there. We got snowed in one year for three nights we couldn’t fly out. We have everything ski related delivered to the hotel. They take care of it coming and going.

This next system has some good potential, multiple waves with a west-northwest flow could bring some nice totals to a lot of mountains.

There’s a short lift from the Westin, a longer lift up to Bachelor Gulch, then the lift from BG to the top. Its takes a few minutes. The one going up to BG takes you about 100’ over a road that definitely will make you pucker. You can ski past the Ritz on the way down but I forget where it leaves you.

Thanks for this, when you did this eval, how many days/nights were you going for?
Since it is with kids, it is 3 ski days and 1 off day to play. Therefore, 6 days and 5 nights.
Arrive, Ski, Ski, Off, Ski, Depart.

Most resorts end up being around $1500-2000/per adult for this type of itinerary. Kids average around $1200-1400, mostly due to lessons.
When they get older, you don't need the lessons. So, there is a window where it's a bit cheaper. But before long, they get big, and the the lodging has to get bigger (so, you don't end up saving much versus being adults).

Biggest issue is finding the right timing for flights and lodging, as they are the most variable.
Flights are usually between $300-400/pp.
Lodging can usually be found between $1500-2500.

Otherwise, the rest doesn't change much.
Ikon/Epic 3-4 day pass - $400/pp
Rentals ~$75/d/pp - $300/pp
Transfer to from airport - rental car - $300 total

2 adults = (300*2 + 2000 + 400*2 + 300*2 + 300) = $4300
This is true for ($4.3k-$4.5k): Palisades, Park City, Beaver, Telluride Town, Zermatt, Solitude, Brighton, Vail.

You can get better flights and lodging ($3.6-4.0k): Breck, heavenly, snowbird, steamboat, whistler, northstar, and crested butte.

Super cheap (under $3600): Keystone, Jackson Hole (due to flight discount from resort), Winter park, & copper.

Would love to hear about Val. Thinking about taking the family for spring break 2025.
Just booked Late Jan to Telluride for family in 2024.

Might do just the wife and I to Europe in 2025. But, she won't want to do "just skiing" like I do. So, it'll likely be Zermatt.

Would love yall's help deciding our destination this year. We frequently go to Breck, Vail, Keystone, Copper Mtn, Park City, and Aspen. Also been to Telluride, Crested Butte, and Heavenly a handful of times. This year we want to go somewhere that we've never been.

The trip will be 4 husbands / 4 wives and NO KIDS. We are leaving them all at home. The guys are all type 3 skiers and can go all mountain. Ladies can do blues and usually start apres early afternoon.

We narrowed it down to Big Sky and Steamboat. Which one would yall pick of those 2?

Another option is somewhere else in Tahoe that has a great overall experience when it comes to the mountain, town, restaurants, bars, nightlife...

Steamboat is a great blue mountain. Type 3 skiers will be wanting a little more there. Big Sky has you covered for the difficult runs and there's tons of greens/blues for the women. Both towns are great ski towns, I'd say it depends on where you can get cheaper tickets to flight wise. Can't really go wrong with either.

Steamboat you fly into Hayden and drive 20-30 min to the boat, Big Sky is an hr drive from Bozeman

Steamboat has the edge as far as town, restaurants, and nightlife goes. Big Sky has the edge as far as the mountain itself goes (although Steamboat is great in it’s own right).

You really can't go wrong with either, two of my favorites for different reasons. Steamboat has a better ski town vibe and elite tree skiing. Big Sky is massive and has much better big mountain terrain if you can handle it.

Do I put the powder skis on the car tonight and tempt the fates or do it at 4:45 in the morning in a raging snowstorm?
