If you’re traveling by during their open hours, there is a Sierra Trading Post on 70 on the far west side of town before you leave the city. Easy on and off of 70.

It will be considerably cheaper than anything you buy out in Breck and Silverthorn.

For those unfamiliar with Sierra Trading Post, it’s it the same family as Homegoods, TJ Max, etc, but for outdoor gear only.

It’s an awesome store. I refreshed my gear this past fall and have been very happy with what I got from there.

Decided to try and head up to Mt. Baker tomorrow morning for hopefully a solid day of skiing. From their website, they're sitting on the deepest snow base in north america . First time up there so will report back with some pics.

First time skier here. Taking the family to Colorado this year (kids 11, 8, 6). We are looking at Snowmass right now - does anyone have recommendations on places to stay or reason why somewhere else would be better?

Breakenridge lodging question-

Considering going here in early April. Considering either a condo at Main Street Station or a condo at One Ski Hill Place.

Anyone stay at either? Is it better to be at the base of Peak 9 or 8?

Steps to lifts and close to restaurants are a priority. Need somewhere nice with at least 2bedrooms/2 baths.

I just got back from breck on new years day. We stayed at main Street station and loved it. You really can't beat the location. Everything (including skiing) is a short walk away. Also if you wanna ski over at peak 8 instead you can just hop on the peak 8 super connect from peak 9. We really liked the condo we had on the 2nd floor. I booked through breck mountain management which saved me close to 1000 bucks from vrbo fees.

Our condo was a one bedroom two bath but it had a sofa bed and a Murphy bed. Was around 750 sq feet. One huge plus was that it had an in unit washer and dryer. That was a big plus for us.

Assuming you have skied other mountains how would you stack it up skiing wise?

Steamboat is our normal mountain. I’ve also skied Deer Valley, Sunshine and Jackson Hole.

I haven't actually. It was first time ski trip for me. Peak 8 & 9 are all ive ever skied. Some of the other fellas on here can prob answer that one for ya.

All I can say is between those two peaks there's a very good variety between green, blue, & blacks. We only did blue and greens and didn't get bored in 4 days of skiing.

So how far from Mai. Street station was the main ski lifts?

We are used to the Sheraton in Steamboat were the six person life is about 60 yards from the back door and the gondola is maybe 100 yards.

Also, I’m assuming there are a lot of places within a five minute walk for lunch, apres ski drinks and diner?

Its prob 100-150yds away at most. You just walk out and through the village and all the shops in the little courtyard to the quicksilver chair. Also on that short little walk you'll pass two Christy sports(ski gear and rentals) and 4 or 5 eating places.. there's a crepe trolley along the way where I got a BBQ brisket crepe that changed my life also, if anyone needs ski school its right there as well along the way to the lift.

Exiting the condo street side there are tons of eating places within a 5 min walk or less. Too many to name.

Ski pics incoming! Sorry, wrong board.

Breck has a lot of different types of lodging. On mountain, in town, in the neighborhood, on 4 O Clock/Snowflake, etc. At an everyman’s price point, there are pros and cons to each but as long as you are in the area, you are good. If you’re group likes to take a lot of breaks during the day, stay on mountain on any peak (Peak 9 if you want the greens). If you want to a bigger place and plan on skiing all day, there’s some nice stuff that’s a 5 minute drive into the neighborhood.

It was 40s and sunny today at crystal and I enjoyed the soft snow, felt like spring skiing. How is Tahoe's snow base?

I booked some place called 3 peaks lodge which is close by skiing and only 150/night
I live right behind here and it’s about a 5 minute walk to the Peru lift, just make sure to hit the crosswalk button when crossing hwy 6. 3 Peaks used to be rough but it was getting renovated during the entire quarantine and the lobby is nicer now but I haven’t seen the rooms yet, I’m sure it’ll be fine though.

Heavenly is at 48" which is about 70% of their average.

The problem is the next two weeks...

Almost went to Tahoe but picked Colorado instead after CA went into lockdown. At least I won't have to worry about it melting I guess but the forecast sucks. Going to Winter Park tomorrow for 3 days, Vail 1 day and Copper 1 day.
