Verizon Is Offering a Huge List of Incentives for Joining Their 5G Home Network

The service turns your residence into a cell tower of its own, linking your devices to Verizon’s ultrafast and reliable 5G Ultra Wideband network. You will receive an Alexa-enabled 5G Home Router that acts as a Wi-Fi hub and command center for your humble abode. The cableless setup process is very simple and can be done completely on your own. Typical download speeds are 300 Mbps and can range up to 1 Gbps depending on your location. There are no annual contracts and no data caps.
The 5G Home Internet package is available for just $70 a month with Auto Pay. But if you have a new or existing monthly Verizon mobile plan of $30 or more, you can knock off another $20 and bring this down to a very affordable $50 a month with Auto Pay. The all-inclusive subscription price of 5G Home covers equipment, taxes, and other fees so you never have to worry about any surprises on your internet bill. Since this is a new type of service to hit the market, Verizon will actually let you try 5G Home free for the first three months to test the waters.
This seems like a very good offer, especially if you already have service with Verizon. Plus, they throw in some "lagniappe" as well.

So basically you pay to convert your house into giant Chinese spy hub.

Didn’t Amazon just announce they’re using all their devices to share your WiFi with your neighbors?
This sounds like an enormous information gathering network on steroids

Yes, however, all of us that use Alexa have until 6/8 to disable them from doing this.
I don't understand the arbitrary deadline for "opting in." A customer should always be "opted out" unless they want to opt-in, but we all know it doesn't work like that, especially in today's eavesdropping world.

We can thank our lawmakers for that. In most of Europe you have to opt in, in the US you are opted in unless you decide to opt out.

Yes but it's a moot point since with this you will be your neigtbors' cell tower anyway

But for real, if you have any China made cameras or devices with cameras in them in your home, they already are there.

Recently swapped over from Cox to T-mobile's home internet plan. While I'm not seeing 1 gbps I'm consistently in the 200-300 mbps range, which was better than what we saw with Cox.

Yeah, this is what I have, so not helpful to me.

Thanks for the tip. That sounds like a good deal for me, but "Verizon Home Internet services are not currently available at this address."
I'm happy with Comcast, except the price is now about $75 a month. I'm sure Verizon would jack their price up after the honeymoon period, but $50 for a while would be nice.

So everyone in the house will get cancer?

While intriguing, looks like they are still testing the market demand before really expanding this service.
