I have had both. Currently on Direct tv now. Yes i believe both have access to on Demand shows. Sling has better on demand shows. Yes you can switch between packages on both. You may want to look at the pricing and if it is possible to switch say a lower or higher tier mid month.

The big question for most streamers is how many are in your household and how many tv's do you plan on using?
Does your cable have a data cap or unlimited data plan?

Sling has a few options but the orange only allows one stream. The sling blue package is a little more expensive but has 3 streams you can watch at the same time on different tvs. Not very sports friendly though.

I currently have direct tv now at 35 a month. you can get i believe the first 3 months at like 19.99. Currently direct now only allows two simultaneous on two devices but in a month or two they will allow 3. Im waiting for that. I believe direct tv now currently has the best channels for the price compared to sling. Your choice though. Also, Direct tv has alot of the local channels now compared to sling.

For DTNow, can I watch any channel I want whenever I want? For instance, if my wife misses a Scandal episode, can she go back and watch it?

Also, if I were to get DTNow, I would have to purchase an HD antena for the Saints games that were on Fox, correct? If I live in Mandeville, do these antennas reach the signal from New Orleans? I'm not sure how this all works.

DTVNow Locals

Looks like it's possible you could get them through the service. Have to check and see if those stations are added yet.

If not it will depend on your antenna strength. I can't say to the distance there, maybe someone local can chime in.

Question for sling. If I get the orange package that comes with ESPN3, can I watch games airing on the SEC network on it?

Answer is no. you need to get the $10/mo sports add on for sec network. Amother reason i switched from sling to YouTube tv recently.

I’m trying directv now and so far it’s okay. But no sec network in the fall won’t fly.

My problem with sling is I only need the orange with the kids and sports package. But that only gives you 1 stream. In order to get more streams and the channels I want I’m spending $50. I might just up the directv now plan during football season and deal with it.

With the $50 package. I’m thinking I’ll upgrade to that during football season (sept - Nov).

That’s really the only time I watch sec network.

I just signed up for Direct TV Now and it works OK so far. The no DVR part is a bit of hangup right now hopefully they add that pretty soon.

I followed the Troypoint tutorial to get Titanium up and running on both the FTV and FTVS, finally. Using IPVanish and the biggest hitch is with the streaming TV channels. Haven't been able to get any of those to load.

Pyramid came bundled in Titanium, but it doesn't appear to work any longer. Is that others' experience?

Any tips on minimizing data usage? I cut the cord two months ago and each month I've bumped up against the 1024 gb data limit. Cox offers 500 more GB for $29.99. I might have to get that. I have a 4K TV and streaming 4k shows and netflix is killing me. I also have PSVue.

It was the same here with comcast. Luckily we got at&t fiber a few months after cutting the cord. i was spending 70 a month for 75 mpbs and 1024 gb data limit. i got at&T fiber for 80 a month with 1 gb download speed and UNLIMITED DATA. Life saver.

Anybody having luck with live TV streams via Kodi? I've only gotten a couple to work properly. Am I correct in thinking that the VPN needs to be set to a UK IP if I want to try to stream BBC/Sky/etc content?

Do you have to go somewhere else to get the channels to load into Mobdro? That's one of the ones I can't get to work.

About three hours later there was another update. They corrected whatever they did wrong in the newest update. Now everything is working. I sent them a message asking them to include the SEC channel in the lineup. Not sure what trouble you are having but all the channels are included in the download.

I'll have to try it again. I've installed and uninstalled the latest versions several times to no avail.

Anyone else not able to watch the espn app using roku? Seems the cable account is no longer good and I need the espn+ package? Is this correct?

I believe that's correct. ESPN+ if you don't have a current paid subscription through a provider.
