They should bundle all the streaming services together and call it cable

They should make it $150/month and make it impossible to cancel. And charge extra for the convenience of the bundle while they are at it.

These days it seems like you have to sign up for a different streaming service for every new popular show that comes out that you want to watch. I sometimes wish I could go back to the good ol' cable + dvr + Netflix combo. It was so simple compared to the mess we have today.

The mess that allows you to pick and choose and cancel anytime?
Do you have to be watching all the hit shows all at once? Why not check out what’s on HBO Max one month, cancel, then check out what’s on Hulu next month, etc?

I have mine down to a few services and have more content than I ever need. I added up my cost and I am under $500 yearly. I am happy with that. I don't have live TV outside of what Peacock and Pluto offer and what my antenna catches and don't miss it at all.

This is exactly what we do. Rotate through them, finished up Apple TV last month, HBO this month for succession.
It’s annoying, but on the flip side I turn off YouTube TV after football is done and save a substantial amount over the $200/month, 2 year contract I used to be locked into.

I can't imagine navigating the current streaming trainwreck.

And that's the difference. I can start and stop streaming services any second of any day. I never have to get or return equipment. I never need to schedule around technicians.
Even if my menu of streaming services started to cost the same as what I used to pay for cable, which it currently does not, I still wouldn't go back to cable purely due to the convenience factor.

IPTV(every live channel) and Cinema HD.
Cable internet $90
Iptv subscription $15
Real Debird $3
External antenna free
So $108 a month.

My problem is that I’m not so much concerned with what’s on, as I am concerned with what ELSE is on…

Honestly, the streaming wars have created better content too. I think the average person never minded and still don’t mind paying $100 or more per month to watch good shows and movies on their TV. The problem was before streaming, most of what you were paying for with cable was trash and nothing that was relevant to you. Streaming allows you to tailor television to what your specific tastes are.

Why don’t you just keep one active, watch the shows you want to watch, then deactivate and start with a different streaming provider?

I've got Comcast w/ HBO and Netflix. Also have Prime but that covers other stuff too so it don't count
I'm not splurging for Paramount, Disney, and the others

Yea F all that. We have Netflix, Disney, and cable. On top of that, there's regular ol Youtube. You can't find something watch, that's on you. Sometimes, we just have to miss out on that 1 show.

how, show me? is it easy to navigate? i.e. can kids and especially women navigate it?

You just have to figure out what’s important to you and find deals. I get free Netflix, Apple TV, and MLB tv through T-Mobile. I pay for the Disney, Hulu, ESPN bundle for like 17 a month. Antenna and parents cable login for live sports (which I don’t watch nearly as often due to Covid and politics).
I’m set with as much content as I can handle. If it comes down to it and there is a show I really want to watch on another service I just do a free trial and binge

And if you ever get desperate, you can always just go buy an episode or a season on Amazon a la carte

Posted on 1/25/22 at 11:39 pm to rickgrimes
Ehh I have Amazon prime and some of the channels through that. It’s all in one place.
Then I have peacock to watch the premier league. But that just takes exiting out one app and opening another. It’s really not that difficult.
