I can get the 85" TCL plus 2 year warranty from bestbuy for basically the same price of 75" Samsung Q90F plus 5 year warranty (1 year Samsung, 1 year costco, 3 years allstate). Some say I won't really notice the slightly better picture of Samsung but I'll definitely notice the 12" difference in the TCL. Which TV plus warranty is the better buy at $1500? Which would you recommend?

No idea about the tcl but I hate my Samsung TVs user interface. To the point where if we move I won’t take the tv with me

When their was just a few players in the game, Samsung was the best. Now. Just get the biggest cheapest one and you'll be fine.

I bought a 98” TCL QM8K right before Christmas and kept it a week or so. The picture was nice but it just wasn’t right. Sports still had judder and lacked clarity. Regular TV and movies were ok.

I brought it back and got an 85” Sony Bravia 9. Yes, smaller but the picture is flat out gorgeous and sports are equivalent to OLED.

You can get them on sale right now. Act fast because they’ll be pulling them for the new expensive Bravia 9 II coming out this summer.

SONY is still better — it’s their processor. Will be interesting to see how quality holds now that they’ve merged with TCL.

TCL's are awesome. I love mine. Really great picture, and the interface is great.

Is warranty even a valid variable for comparison anymore?

I just got a 85" TCL Qm6k this past weekend. Obviously haven't had much time with it yet, but so far so good.
I get 'cheap' TVs as I don't appreciate the higher end ones enough to justify spending that much more. To me, the low end TVs of today are pretty darn incredible. If the blacks aren't perfect or the colors don't pop enough, I don't really care enough to spend that much more.
I had a Hisense before. It was fine too, but the biggest thing on it was its processor was very slow. Switching inputs, navigating menus, etc it would be laggy. The TCL seems to be better in that regard.

Just buy an AppleTV. No one should be using their TV's interface anymore.

I've been a Samsung guy for years going all the way back to when I bought my first plasma TV. More and more I'm seeing this viewpoint here and elsewhere but admit I'm having a hard time putting aside my preconception that TCL, Hisense, etc are junk. Admittedly it's my own prejudice based on experiences from many years ago... I need to set that aside for an honest, objective evaluation when we get a new TV soon.

I am the same way. I do believe Hisense is junk. I still buy Samsung but the quality is just not there anymore. They don't last like they used to.

I always try to keep an open mind but had my fill of Samsung, fire TV and Roku interfaces.

Bought the android TCL and it's life changing. Makes me want to throw away all those other interfaces I used for years. Maybe it's because it's got a fast processor but the android experience is butter smooth and the Gemini AI is sweet.

Plex has never worked better.

I bought a QM8K back around the Super Bowl, it's been great for the last 5 months and I have no regrets.

I've done a bunch of A/B testing with a Roku Ultra hooked up to it, and I will say that the Roku looks slightly better on the same picture settings than the native apps with Dolby Vision or HDR content, but honestly it's negligible and maybe my own bias.

The only real noticeable issue I find is the upscaling of "low quality" programming, older shows or things just in 720p. My Roku seems to handle that much better. Native YouTube app seems grainy and very soft, no matter how much I tweak the settings.

I was just reading about this one. I'm predisposed to go Costco if only for the 5yr warranty. One of the things that gives me pause about the Pro model is that it has an anti-glare screen. It used to be that the anti-glare feature resulted in a notable less bright display along with a drop in color quality ... but that's been a while so I don't know if the anti-glare tech has improved or not
