Wife relenting under pressure. Just about have a full-go for a new 85” TV. Will pay around $4K ... don’t want to blow my “ok” from the boss.

Liking the Sony Bravia 950 series. It’s not OLED but ...

Or should I wait just a bit longer? Right now I have a still very good top of the line 65” Panasonic plasma. About 8 years old. I would move it to my bedroom.

Any thoughts?

I Got the 85” 4K Sony 850 and love it. Paid 3k or so. The 950 is about $1000 more but I couldn’t tell the difference.

Really need 85"?

77" LG CX is just under $4k and is the best thing out there right now

77" LG CX $3999

85" Samsung Q80T $3499

85" Sony X900H $2499

LG best panel. Sony best value by far as it's on sale from $3499 at best buy.

Make sure you're good with the burn in risk with OLED if you go that route. Someone accidentally leaving it on a channel with a scroll or static logo for a few hours would not be good for that investment.

82" Q80R...$3,200. It's the 2019 model but that has better performance than the 2020. Q90R is $4k.

LG has built in features that prevent that. Non issue.

Will probably wait just a tad longer. Reading about a lot of backlighting issues on all models I am interested in. Plus my 65-inch Panasonic plasma is still hard to beat for deep blacks and motion control.

I want an 85 in 4K because that is what I want. But the 8Ks are breaking out quickly and should shove prices down closer to Cyber Monday, Christmas and Super Bowl days.

I have a 50 inch panny plasma and 58 inch Samsung plasma, and they do really look good. Would hate to drop 2k plus and end up not liking the picture as much

I’ll be buying a 85 inch Samsung Q80 before the end of the year or just after for my media room. It would be nice to find one under 3k after the new models come out.

If Sony had a XBR77A9G currently in stock, I would give you an offer you couldn't refuse.

I'm not sure you'll see much of a discount during Black Friday because looking at Sony's employee site, there's not many TV's in stock.

If he's willing to spend up to $4k, I would not recommend he go for the RU8000. That's very much a low end model.

Rtings review..."decent"
