Anybody watching this? Has the transformation from Samsung to Apple completed with this one?

Yeah, watching it now.

Preordering.

Holy shite this thing is unreal. Exactly what I want in a phone, finally.

Gonna get the +, want the biggest screen I can get and with it being edge to edge and curved with no physical home button the actual size of the phone is only .1 and .2 taller/wider than the iP7+ for a 6.2" screen.

I don't know why anyone wants edge to edge. Now there's seriously no where to grab the phone without touching something on the screen.

The gloss makes it look cheaply made

I HATE bezels with a damn passion. My PC monitors are edgeless, my Samsung KS8500 TV is edgeless, and I want edgeless on my phone as well. There is nothing I hate more on displays than big thick black ugly bars of nothing taking up space that can be used for screen.

The touch issues have been solved from the S7 Edge per the early reviews, TheVerge had zero accidental touches with their hands on for 3 hours of use.

This phone checks every box and early reviews are spectacular.

I am so excited to finally get a phone with everything I want.

Samsung had to nail it, and boy did they ever.

The touch issues with the S7 were a pain in the arse. I also wasn't crazy about reading on the curved screen, because text would wrap slightly around the edge.

These phones are beautiful, but I don't think I'll leave Google now. I had an S7 Edge that broke, switched to a Pixel and haven't looked back. I always just ignored people's complaints about touchwiz, but the difference from the Samsung interface to Google's pure android experience is night and day. Pixel is the best phone I've ever had

And that is fine, I will finally be leaving Google for the first time since before the Nexus 4, currently on my Nexus 6P still.

I had zero interest in the Pixel personally as soon as I saw the design, physical home button and thick huge bezels...I was out.

I will root the phone eventually like I do all my Android's so TouchWiz is whatever, I'll get by until it is rootable.

Apparently the new face and iris scanners are excellent and instant, won't need to use the fingerprint one you just look at it and boom.

LINK

First smartphone with HDR certification as well, I can only imagine how the Samsung Super AMOLED's look in person now with HDR.

That same video at the start talking about the hardware, he says it's the best feeling hardware he has ever used, says it just feels so good and premium in the hand.

IDK this is the first time I've watched a Samsung announcement but it felt exactly like an Apple presentation with the exception of 100 applause breaks. People didn't seem too impressed.

Nah they still have their own skin over the top of Android, whether or not they choose to still call it Touchwiz or not it's still a Samsung skin they just continue to dial it back with each new iteration.

It looks and sounds good though.

quote:

The interface you'll see on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is a remnant of the Galaxy Note 7's software, though it also made a cameo on the Galaxy Tab S3. It's different than what came standard on last year's Galaxy S7, which was still very blue in some places. It was obvious Samsung was still transitioning.

The Nougat version of Samsung's UI tells a different story, however; a novella, if you will, of a company that's finally figured it out. The interface is white and black, with gray hues speckled throughout. It's the equivalent of wearing a brightly colored blazer on top of an all-black outfit, except that the blazer is the actual chassis of the Galaxy S8. The interface is simple and subdued so that the hardware can stand out, essentially justifying the cost of the device.

I didn't get to watch the presentation, but what? The S8 has it, but the S8 plus is... something different?

They aren't calling it Touchwiz anymore, it's just a light skin now basically. It looks good, see above.

Looks similar to what I'm running on my 6P currently, a white and gray theme.

I may be in the minority but I hate Nougat. I reminds me way to much of my old iPhone.

They both pull in elements they like from each other. So it's only natural for them to be more like each other with each iteration.

This one looks very iphoneish though. It's like they build their phones based off iphone rumors.
