Point is that the 8+ to the Xs max is a complete redesign if you look at it that way. It's an entirely new phone, it's not incremental.
Now the X to Xs is incremental, as usual with the "s" lineup. Going forward I expect they'll be on the same schedule so the next "s" round may be an incremental upgrade for the Max/whatever line.

lol. Xs is 5.8 inch screen. Xr is 6.1 inches.
Xr is stepping into the old pricepoint of the 8+.
the Xr isn't anything incremental. it's a new model, which blends the lower pricepoint with the newer edge to edge design.

I don't have the specs in front of me, but is the width of the Xs the same width as the Xs Max or whatever it is called?

X to Xs, probably not. The S models are rarely big enough changes to warrant an upgrade after just a year. I can see considering an Xs Max though for the larger screen.

How do you get “pre-approved”
I don’t want to wake up at 2am to order a fricking phone. What’s the easiest way to do it? If I wait til Friday morning will there be a backlog of orders?
