For $25, I made my 15 y/o receiver Bluetooth compatible.

I bought a house before Katrina that had internal wiring and speakers all over the place. I was not an audiophile, but I bought a Sony receiver powerful enough to feed the whole house. Then life happened and my kids grew up and I went years without playing music on my home stereo.
Well I just got re-interested. And I had no idea that my Stone Age receiver could be turned into an extension of my iTunes. $25 at Best Buy -- Logitech with RCA connections -- and it has literally changed my life.
I'm stupid.

Bluetooth device that has audio output to send to your receiver?

Yes. Plugs into the auxiliary jack. And it's the size of a brownie.

Couldn't you have bought an Amazon dot to do this?

I use an Apple Airport Express for my stereo signal. It sounds great.

Link? Our Bose in the kitchen is not bluetooth, and really don't want to replace it yet.

This. Then you could also talk to it.

Chromecast Music can work with old receives too.

I did the same thing when I had my old school receiver and surround sound before sound bars came out. Then those came out and everyone had bluetooth and my old school system didnt. I picked up a Belkin bluetooth receiver that was about the size of a half dollar and presto! Bluetooth! I got rid of that system last year and gave it to my brother and he still rocks it.
This is what I used. LINK
It plugs into the back with the red/white wires and takes up an input option.

And it's WiFi, not less reliable Bluetooth.

Doesn't work with Apple Music

Am I the only one that had to read the title of this post twice? First time I read it I completely missed the word receiver. Definitely had to take a second look.

You overpaid. I have one plugged into a Sony Receiver that runs my Mardi Gras Float's play list, and it's the size of a matchbook. Plugs directly into the aux jack of the receiver.
Actually just bought two of them for friends who have in-dash set-ups in their cars that don't allow for BT but do have aux jacks on the front of the head unit who want to upgrade to IPhone 7'.
They're like $12-15 on Amazon. Right now.

I think my roku does this (in addition to all the "roku stuff")...and you can get first gen roku's for about $35. So that's a great option as well.
