I am not going to lie. Every now and then I get that itch for the latest & greatest phone. Then I look at that price

haven't bought a new phone in a decade or longer.

i pick up 2-3 models back and pay around $200 on average.

currently rocking a oneplus 10 pro and its freaking awesome. i think i paid $170 for it a few months back.

I'm still on my 12Pro and other than my CarPlay occasionally getting wonky, I am still going strong. Was looking at the latest 16Pro price tag of $7.50 a month for 36 months. But I would also have to upgrade my phone plan for that deal and lose my "free" Disney+/Hulu account that the kids watch daily. So, I would be on the hook for another $11/month which means I would now be paying $666 over 3 years for a new phone, and another $11+/month thereafter

Still better than $1,100 for a phone; but it's not a need now

My wife could get the same phone for $100 because she doesn't have the free Disney connected to her number

ATT is basically giving em away with a trade-in. I just upgraded 3 for my family at almost zero costs besides sales tax and a one-time $30 upfront and chicken shite monthly.

I've been getting new pixels unlocked. Last year Google gave a $699 trade in value for a pixel if you got the new ones. Got the 9 Pro XL. Add in the $100 Black Friday discount, spent maybe $350-400 total on it.

This is the way. iOS makes it even easier, because there isn't sh1t of a difference that's meaningful year after year after year.

Apple will quickly build a plant in the US to assemble the iPhone as no one will buy a 2,300 dollar phone made in China. Tariffs doing what they should do.

5 generations later and now you’re deciding not to upgrade bc of a tariff lol

This. I understand a foreign company like Samsung has their manufacturing facilities outside the U.S. but Apple is a U.S. company and should be manufacturing their products in the U.S.
Apple has gotten rich from taking advantage of cheap labor in China.
It's time for them to move out of Communist China and back to the U.S.

Which wouldn’t really lower the price.

Your options in this scenario are:

A likely 3,000 iPhone

Americans earning third world wages

Well Trump just lifted the tariffs, on a bunch of electronics, and specifically named all Apple products. So this interesting discussion is now moot.

People will not pay that much.

Sure they will. The smart phone is probably the most important thing most people own.

It's also important to the government that people have a personal tracking device on them at all times as well. That's why they're so ubiquitous. They're a great tool for keeping tabs on people.
