My team lost so naturally it’s the worst WC of all time

This is ultimately what defines a good or bad cup for me.

nothing can grab the full attention of Americans in late November/early December.

This is the main reason there is no hype. I went to watch the game at bww and there was no interest.

The winter timing blows. I was going to go to the FC Dallas watch party at the stadium but it’s supposed to be cold and rainy. A lot of European countries like France and Belgium just said frick it and didn’t even bother.

Yes I am.

Your line of argument does not discredit the reality of such.

I'd still take summer, but the Thanksgiving week kick off has been fantastic for myself. Going to spend another day tomorrow watching action all morning while baking my Thanksgiving cakes.

You don't recall Gab saying Brazil wasn't fit to host a World Cup?

Oddly, the biggest pro of them as a host is you could theoretically bounce around to multiple stadium matches in a day if you went.

You obviously didn’t watch Senegal or Tunisia, both of their games you could hear the fans.

Also a lot of these stadiums are not huge, mostly 45,000 capacity. If you split that between two teams 50-50 or 70-30, can’t compare that to college football stadiums.

I actually think Fox’s coverage has been pretty good but the timing is terrible. This needs to be, and should only be, a summer tournament.

From multiple videos I’ve seen on Twitter, the fans in Qatar are having a good time.

In the long MSB thread, someone just told me the average EPL player was 5'11 and 180 lbs.

While I do feel like FOX is partly responsible…what do you really expect when the entire Cup is just in one city? I’m sure they’re doing all they can but part of the World Cup’s allure is its ability to completely take over a country and make it seem like THE biggest event on the planet, which it should be. But it doesn’t.

The biggest thing, I think, for it feeling this way for some of us is timing. Almost every other WC has been in July, usually during a complete dead period in sports, in daily life where we don’t have to worry about holidays, school, work, other sports from distracting us. Because of that dead period every cable provider is pushing it, since there’s nothing else. There’s been hardly any promos done over here that I’ve seen. This board, Twitter, the entire country seemed WAY more involved and into it in 2014. Soccer certainly isn’t losing popularity but there’s just so much shite going on in November-January with sports and life shite that it doesn’t feel like it’s taking over everything like it normally does
