I was going to ask if the main storyline would be the potential irony of England winning it all in the US during the America 250 celebration

Alas... we don't have to ask

Thank God for that.

I can't believe England has blown this. I genuinely can not believe it

I would be in the same boat if I hadn’t seen Argentina do this like 3 times in this tournament already. Egypt had them down 2 nil in the 79th minute and lost 3-2 in stoppage time.

Argentina looked like the far better squad for most of the 90 minutes. I know this is an England choke, but it doesn't feel as bad as others they've had in the past.

Ehh… I’m not sure I’d agree with that. First half was neutral at a minimum. Argentina really didn’t have very many good looks until after England scored.

Why is this even a question?

HFK might have just seen a potential Ballon d'Or slip away...and Messi is squarely in the race

He already is and all other arguments are really invalid

It's a big loss but they weren't expected to get quite this far and def. not in the final.

France losing to Spain 2-0 was far worse. France was the favorite to win it all.

But as big a soccer country as they are, without a Cup win in 40 years, and the fact that, if you follow World Cup, this was probably the one time when you could say they have an actual shot. (2018 was relatively unexpected), and France losing means they had a better shot to win.

Of course Argentina is good.... but England had them beat for 85 min.

After seeing England throwing non stop praise on the Mexican fans I’m not sad to see them lose.

England got that goal and just completely stopped playing. Absolutely insane.

England was screwed early on fouls but managed to get the lead only to go into a shell. I knew this was gonna happen the second they stopped attacking aggressively after the goal.

Worst part is the second goal came off an uncalled foul on Messi. English player got to the ball first, Messi kicked him and then wandered off.

In the end, Argentina is living off a rep that this team doesn’t really justify, but it’s working.

Spain is a much better technical team and better defensively than England, so they should win all things equal.

Infantino’s corruption got what he wanted though. Messi in the final. Sadly they didn’t need his corruption much in this game. Just needed an English manager to coach like a moron after going up 1-0.

Worst part? Egypt showed how susceptible Argentina is on the back end once you get up on them. They press and counter attacks are easy on them then.

If Tuchel gets the Lane Kiffin USC tarmac treatment it's way too light.
