At MBS for the match. Think I can safely say this one was over before the hydration break. KSA is awful defensively.

They do

Until they decide they don’t know how to stretch the field vertically anymore and end up with 70% possession and a shootout loss

How did Saudi and Cap Verde end up in the same group. They should be have been the same pool during the drawing

Saudi Arabia was one of the weaker teams in pot 3, while Cape Verde barely missed out on pot 3 and was in pot 4 with the weakest teams and the playoff qualifiers.

It was a lucky draw for sure, as if Spain needed it.

I’d wager Spain flops just as much as Brazil. Might be behaving more bc they know these refs aren’t falling for it, but they also have cucurella who is a flop master

Speaking of him..

Looking over the knockout round format, obviously with the math of 32 teams now half of the group winners get to play a 3rd place team in the R32, and the other half have to play 2nd place teams. And some of the 2nd place teams get to play other 2nd place teams rather than a 1st place team. These are pretty big advantages. How was it decided which groups got matched up?

Probably resolved in the potting.

Pretty awful slate today. Not a single game that you could have been looking forward to. Might be first time this tournament

They could have done a better job balancing the days. Argentina-France-Norway all playing tomorrow on a work day.

I'd love for a ref to give a yellow card to dudes faking head injuries.

Lukaku made absolutely no contact to where the goalie was grabbing on his neck to try to get a yellow card.

This world cup has done a great job of not calling fouls when it comes to physical play, but somehow touching the goalie is still a yellow card

That goalie for Iran is a dog. They lucked out big time since their starting goalie was put in jail for criticizing the regime

Do yall think the players feel dumb after rolling on the ground for 10 seconds holding their leg and then having to just get up and sprint back towards the play? I’d be so ashamed but maybe these foreign teams have less shame about it because it’s so engrained in the sport
