Do they still play Pepe at CM?

someone young
I don´t know who can plug in and shine this go around, but they´ve theoretically got a strong future.

In the playoffs, they were playing with Meireles, Moutinho, and Veloso. They also have Carvalho who I'm not familiar with but was linked with a big move to Manchester United.

I'm not saying they aren't good. I was answering the "where did the confidence come from" question that I specifically quoted.
They did not have a good qualifying campaign. They struggled unnecessarily particularly against Israel and Norther Ireland - two teams they should beat relatively easily.
We will get their best shot - but I still think they will be too relient upon CR and there is a weakness there we could take advantage of.
I also think Deuce vs. Pepe has the potential for some explosions.

The attacking midfielder from Braga, Rafa Silva, seems to be drawing a lot of interest.
I watched them a couple of times as he was constantly linked with Roma this winter before we signed Paredes.
He was pretty impressive playing similar position/style to Koke though maybe a bit more likely to create space for his shot.
He may be young for this summer though.

I hate to say it, but Pepe´s too much for Deuce.

One of them gets a red card in that match.
No doubt in my mind.

Oh, I didn't really mean confidence as in, "we have a shot." I meant the idea that Portugal was Ronaldo and a bunch of shitty players.
If it blows up, it will probably be Deuce elbowing him while going up for a header, and Pepe rolling around on the ground for 30 minutes.

Also, where do some of y'all get the idea that Mix isn't a lock for the 23 from? He has been called up, and played, consistently, starting in the last 2 WCQs and coming off the bench and earning an assist against Mexico. I think he is as much of a lock as Beckerman, Bedoya, and Zusi.
By the way, from what I've read, apparently Corona has worked his way back into the Tijuana squad recently, and been playing well, so he is no longer out of favor there.

I agreed with Broski's locks, except Beckerman who I am sure is also a lock.
Mix, on the other hand, is pretty replaceable and might lose out in favor of another forward. And he hasn't been playing as much this year.

agree with all this. Mix is a lock for the 23.

Castillo started the last one, and played thirty minutes in the prior match. Orozco started two of the last four.

I have followed the USMNT pretty closely this cycle but I'm not a huge soccer expert when it comes to strategy or theory. Would we want to get our best 11 on the field any way we could, within reason, or find the best player for each 11 positions? I ask this to ask do we want Cameron to win the other CB positon or do we think the team is better with him at RB? To me it sees like the best way to get our talent on the field would be like this
-----------Timmy-----------
Cameron--Besler--Gonzo?--FJ
-------MB------Jones-------
Zusi------------------Lando
----------Deuce-----------
---------Jozy-------------
Or is the general consensus that Cameron at CB and Chandler at RB make us better? (I don't know much about Chandler because he hasn't been a huge part of the team recently)
Is Jozy a lock to start? Is there a scenario where Johansson could overtake him at ST or even get PT as a winger?

Bad camp by Jozy would cost him a starting position, I think, but I don't know if anyone else is suited for his role.

What's crazy is that we are going to have no Meximericans on the 23 unless Joe Corona goes all Tanya Harding on Mix, Jones, Edu, Bedoya and Beckerman
You think that has anything to do with the Mexican league not releasing our guys last match? I don't think they are really good enough anyways.

I don't think so. I mean what Mexi-American has a legitimate shout for making the squad who didn't?
Posted on 5/13/14 at 9:06 am to Broski
I can't for the life of me pick 7 to leave behind.

Chandler has been garbage the last few times I saw him with us. I've not followed as closely as I have in the past, but at Honduras he was our worst player.
Posted on 5/13/14 at 9:14 am to Stewie Griffin
I give Chandler a pass for Honduras. Mostly because no one looked good.
Doesn't explain why he's been nowhere near the team since, and why he's deserving of a call-up now. I have to think its the threat of the wingers we'll face plus his familiarity with the German players?
And also because he was coming from a wintery Germany all the way to a hot humid mid afternoon tropic game. He looked completely unprepared for the heat that game.
