Evans is really really slow. He played well as our emergency right back but I would've rather we recalled Spector than go with Evans.

I agree, FWIW I think the only guaranteed lost is against Germany. They're just too stacked.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed loss. It's the WC. Do yourself a favor and go back to the SEC rant.

I'm curious to see what formation we go with.
We've used 4-2-3-1 for most of the qualifying towards the end but a 4-4-2 is intriguing with all the first teamers we have available.

I'm stoked about this 30. I honestly have no problems with it. I'm shocked that Chandler is here, but I think Klinsmann realizes that we need him against the incredible wingers in our group.

I think that XI in a 4-2-3-1 can be just as effective as that first half we had against Mexico with the 4-4-2 diamond. However, it all hinges on whether or not Jones understands that he needs to play as a deep-lying defensive mid to cover for Bradley so he can push up and orchestrate the attack.
We have a fairly potent midfield and striker set. Donovan is liable to make runs on the inside with Fab covering him on the wing and Zusi has proven to very valuable with his service from the right side into the box. The Dempsey and Altidore pairing led to a shite ton of goals in qualifying because they always seemed to be on the same page.

1. I'm surprised that GAM got left off. He was a difference changer off the bench for us, as much as I hate to admit it.
2. If y'all think Beckerman and/or Bedoya don't make the final 23, y'all mothafrickas are crazy.
3. Corona? Um... what? He hasn't even been playing steadily for Tijuana. Should be replaced with Feilhaber.
4. Yedlin hasn't been playing that great lately either.

With these two, I get the impression that Jurgen has most of the 23 figured out and just are bringing those guys in for experience.

The problem with Eddie is that we have no idea what we will get. The guy is the American (and much worse) version of Adebayor. Sometimes he looks like your best player. Other times, his touch looks worse than the average high schooler's.

I don't want guys there for experience. I want guys who can provide should they need to make the trip to Brazil.

What's crazy is that we are going to have no Meximericans on the 23 unless Joe Corona goes all Tanya Harding on Mix, Jones, Edu, Bedoya and Beckerman

I would bet it will be a 4-2-3-1 in Brazil. The 4-4-2 diamond we used against Mexico would get thrashed against teams like Germany and Portugal. Need to pack it in more in the middle.

I like that line-up a lot - my main issue with it is I think Deuce is not very good at linking up play.
If we have Landon and Deuce inter-change and Johnson over-lap a lot, I would be on board.

Have you watched Seattle at all this season?
Dempsey has been on fire as the offensive lynch pin. He's connecting the dots and pulling the strings for them, I have no doubt he will run the show for us in Brazil alongside General Bradley.

Only seen one sounders game this year where he played and it was before he was on fire.
However, I've watched Dempsey for 8+ years now, and that is a big problem with his game. He's crap for 80 minutes and then scores a goal and everything is ok (and I'm ok with this too because he's scored).
Does the fact that he can suddenly do it (if a, what, 5 game stretch really is all that meaningful) mean he's improved or that MLS is much easier to do it against? I'm not thinking this will suddenly be part of his international game.

hey fellas not a big soccer fan, but I do love watching the World Cup (as most Americans join the bandwagon around this time). I know we are extreme underdogs to win the whole thing but can someone give me a realistic shot at our odds of advancing our bracke? (which I hear is damn brutal) are we talking about Jacksonville Jaguars making the playoffs realistic?
I am actually going to the first game of the WC a buddy of mine's dad lives in Brazil…pretty stoked.

Right now statisticians are saying 40%, but I think it's closer to 50.
