It won't happen, but Benny and/or Lee Nguyen should be included in this camp.

Center back Tim Ream, Bolton player of the year, not invited to U.S. World Cup training camp. Presumably, John Brooks is in #usmnt

If Brooks is in, I assume Gooch is out.

Probably is the case, but I could see a scenario where both could get the call to the prelim camp.

I know a lot on here wanted Ream to get a shot, but I think it would have been a little too late for him to really make a case. Bringing in more than 5 CBs could have been a bit much in this numbers game (Omar, Besler, Cameron, Goodson, Brooks)

How old is Ream?

Here's a question that I don't know the answer to:

Brooks isn't cap-tied to us yet, if he makes the 23 but doesn't play a match, is he still free to play for Germany?

Yeah, he still wouldn't have played in an official FIFA international match but I find it hard to believe that getting called into a world cup squad wouldn't cap-tie a player.

He's 26, so he still has another cycle in him.

I think the reason a lot of fans valued him was because he showed at Bolton this season that he is a rich man's Michael Parkhurst in that he can play anywhere on the backline and even play CDM if need be.

I see Ream as a better LB option than Beasley. Disappointed he didn't get called in.

if brooks is on the borderline when it comes to making our 30 man camp, i don't think he has any need to worry where he'd stand with germany.

interesting question that you pose though.

And yeah, he's basically like Parkhurst but better at everything. I bet Parkhurst makes the plane though. Jurgen...

Sounds more like a poor man's Geoff Cameron.

But I guess it's same thing however you choose to phrase it.

Ream definitely should have been given a shot.

This shite drives me nuts, but I *think* once you do the "international switch" paperwork, it's a done deal.

I agree, but if for whatever reason he were to blow up in the coming years, it would be nice to know that he can't slip out of our grasps.

if he's done the international switch, then it is a done deal. that's a one time thing and you can't go back.

Right, but I don't believe he has done that yet.

He was called into the WCQ camp for the match at Costa Rica but never played. I remember reading in an interview from like December(?) where he gave an answer that basically said he wasn't cap-tied but he wants to play for USA.

Cameron>Ream>Parkhurst.

If you argue me you're wrong. If Parkhurst makes the squad and Ream doesn't even get a look, then Jurgen is dumb.

I haven't kept up with Ream much outside of seeing he was Bolton's player of the year but I hate Parkhurst. Maybe it's because he just looks like he doesn't belong near a professional soccer field.

It seems he enjoys taking on defenders and consistently losing the ball.
