What concrete changes did he make to the structure of youth soccer in the United States?

He brought in a lot of Dutch tacticians that tried to help us streamline our coaching licensing program. They really introduced the numbering system that everyone on this board likes to parrot, for instance. I do think that’s had a very positive trickle down to Academies and how we teach roles and responsibilities to our youth players.

That wasn’t really a thing until 2012ish in American soccer language.

Holy shite Richards was 83 for 83 passing. The best passing performance in the WC since 1966

This is the kind of stuff that is just different. Up until about the 65th min, Dest was my MOTM…then I considered what Tillman did and Ream and Freeman and Weston and Tony, and then we get to Balogun and CP10…total squad performance.

I’m no expert, but it’s never been quite like this…don’t wake me up, onto Seattle

The reaction of Crouch and the gang when Gio scores at about 3-4 mins into the video is so awesome… I love this night.

Of course every soccer team in the world ever could play infinitely better and score 100 goals with 100% possession

Phelps could swim faster, bolt could fun faster. They never had a 10/10 race according to you

If your 10/10 half for the USA in a World Cup is literally perfection then yea it wasn’t a 10/10. But that’s completely unrealistic.

So this is now you tripling down. Did you never make it past little league?

Been watching us soccer for 30+ years.
Attended several World Cup qualifiers.
Coached high school soccer for a couple.

Trying to temper expectations, but this is the most complete performances of our lifetime.

Nah dude French mayo thinks it was mid. He’ll tell you how objectively it wasn’t perfect.

Us people who exist in this world recognize how great a performance it was

It was an incredible performance.

We need to keep doing it or it won’t matter.

Ya it's a little odd the first game isn't until 2pm. They couldve easily had the first game in the 11/12 window and that way the last game didn't have to start at freaking 11pm central.

TV audience isn't just the USA. There's a reason the Las Vegas F1 Race runs in the middle.of the night.

Super behind on this so this has probably already been mentioned but super happy at our response to the Paraguay goal. We were in complete control and then took a sucker punch out of nowhere. Instead of panicking or acting like we’re going to blow it, we immediately went on the attack and put the pressure back on. It was nice to hit them with that exclamation mark at the end.

Scored with the very last kick of the first and second half.

That speaks to our attacking prowess to be able to score a goal on 2/2 attempts holding ball til the last possession of stoppage time then throwing the play forward.

Team played lights out

It was impressive especially the work in the middle near the goal. Balogan seemed totally comfortable in there. He probably could have gotten 2 more goals last night if he and Pulisic had stayed in the full 90 minutes.

Dest is a menace coming from the wing

I'd like to see how effective the defense really is. Last night they did not need to play an overwhelming amount. Offense was clicking and keeping the pressure on Paraguay.

Poch got a lot right with this match overall with lineup, subs timings, through balls from the back, overlaps, one-touch movement- this is Pochball. The tuneups for our group were good selections themselves. Boys were mentally prepped and ready to play.

Solid performance. 95% chance we make it out of group.

Expectations do need to be tempered. We will face teams in the knock-out rounds that will put a lot more pressure on our defense.

Hopefully someone in the group stage will pressure us so they don't get complacent.

That was fun. Reminded me a lot of the 3-0 cup final a few years ago. Turns out our attacking players are pretty talented

I’m convinced Claudio used to bully Gregg. Maybe shite in his cleats or something.

Also let’s say Balo keeps scoring like this and is in the running for golden boot, what big club comes calling? Having a US striker start for Barcelona would be the momma we made it moment.

Mauricio the goat

I had my futures on turkey to win the group but after watching that us against the world doc, I was thinking ..well that turkey is probably cooked. He GETS it and is the manager we’ve been waiting for so long.

And I was like Mauricioooo
